Jumping Jack-o'-Lantern Halloween Bash

(JUMPROPE) The gals of On the Double (dutch) have a Halloween treat for you: They'll be teaming up with "World Champion" jumproper (and former Cirque du Soleil coach) Rene Bibaud, and Miss H. Hula Hoop for an afternoon of performances and rope-twirling-and-jumping lessons. Bring your costumes, and break into your candy stash early—you'll need plenty of fuel to keep up with these jumpy ladies. (Miller Community Center, 330 19th Ave E. 3 pm, $5, all ages.)

(MUSIC) With all the Halloween hubbub taking over the streets, be sure to make time for Mon Frere's Real Vampires Ball. The band has never been in finer form. Their dirty, blues-infused punk (think the Gossip with more swagger), accompanied by lovely Nouela Johnston's smoky vocals, never fails to get asses dancing. The Catch, Holy Ghost Revival, Siberian, and Catbees are also on the bill. Plus, everyone gets free vampire teeth! Why would you miss that?! (El Corazón, 109 Eastlake Ave E, 381-3094. 6 pm, $8, all ages.)

Disco Blood Bath

(DJs) The Heavy Mental Army primarily spins disco, heavy metal, and rock 'n' roll. He and DJ Fucking in the Streets played Members Only recently and reunite tonight for what they're calling Disco Blood Bath. It will include baile funk—a Brazilian form of hiphop that mixes Portuguese chanting ("I love your big ass, I love your big ass/move your big ass into my crotch, move your big ass into my crotch")—with dirty Miami booty bass. There will be no parking on the dance floor. (Re-bar, 1114 Howell St. 9 pm, $1 with costume, $3 without.)

Tapas at Chez Gaudy

(FOOD) Chez Gaudy is a cozy little secret, an eccentric Russian jewel box, an eclectic boudoir of food and drink that's up to its nooks in romantic crannies and crammed with unlimited first-date potential. (And fancy pillows!) The drink menu is big as a Chinese phonebook, although the dishes run neuvo Mediterranean. Tuesday night tapas ($2.99 a plate and up) are an extravaganza of artichokes, tapanade, $6.99 bottles of wine, and love. (Chez Gaudy, 1802 Bellevue Ave, 329-4047.)

Ravi Coltrane

(JAZZ) Ravi Coltrane must be Jesus because he is the son of God, John Coltrane. Named after the sitar genius Ravi Shankar (the father of Norah Jones), Ravi Coltrane is, like his father, a tenor and soprano saxophonist. He has released several well-received records as a bandleader, worked with jazz legends like Herbie Hancock, and composed the liner notes for a recent reissue of A Love Supreme. If you miss tonight's performance, you can catch Ravi on Thursday, November 3, at Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center. (The Triple Door, 216 Union St, 838-4333. Doors at 6 pm, show at 7 pm, $20.)

'Wreckage' OTHER
'Wreckage'

(THEATER) Lauren Weedman and her funny, brutally self-deprecating solo show are on loan to us for one precious weekend. Wreckage, currently running at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in L.A., concerns an extremely fucked-up lie Weedman told in college and its decades-long aftermath. A scorchingly funny performer who hops gracefully between dozens of characters, Weedman is one of Seattle's finest exports. You'll laugh. You'll cringe. But mostly you'll laugh. (Erickson Theatre off Broadway, 1524 Harvard Ave, 587-4184. Thurs–Sat at 8 pm, $5–$15.)

'Elevator to the Gallows'

(CINEMA) The year is 1958, the city is Paris, the director is Louis Malle, the actress is Jeanne Moreau, the composer is Miles Davis, the cinematographer is Henri Decaë, the plot is based on a cheap crime novel, and the glorious movie is titled Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (Elevator to the Gallows). Though Malle's next film, The Lovers, was to be his masterpiece, Elevator to the Gallows has the best jazz soundtrack in the history of cinema. (See Movie Times, p. 87, for details.)

(MUSIC) I'm late in falling under the celestial spells cast by renowned jazz trombonist Julian Priester. I wish I could wax prolific about his years working with everyone from Herbie Hancock (during his Headhunters era) to Sun Ra and Max Roach; he's dabbled in everything from hard bop to avant-jazz and fusion. Instead I'll highly recommend buying a copy of his gorgeous, free-flowing 1974 opus Love, Love and attending tonight's performances of talented Cornish jazz faculty, including Chuck Deardorf, Jovino Santos Neto, and Dawn Clement, among others. (Benaroya, 200 University St, 215-4747. 8 pm, $20.)

Fucking Awesome

(MUSIC) Yes, that's the name of this club night, one that leaves little for the local hipster not to love. Sponsored by Vice, thecobrasnake.com, and iheartcomix.com, this epicenter of culture vulturism features DJs Franki Chan (fresh from L.A.), J Clark (fresh from Pretty Girls), and Mamma Casserole (just plain fresh), as well as post-punks Razrez and mustache-rockers Sunday Night Blackout. (Chop Suey, 1325 E Madison St, 324-8000. 9 pm, free, 21+.)
