Hi Dan -

I've been watching your Youth Pastor posts for a while now (maybe over a year?) and I was wondering why you do this. I think it's important work to track this stuff, but why to you do it? Is it to:

1) show that Christian ideals don't produce the results they claim? That is, rapists are Christians too.

2) show that sexual predators are pulled to this profession because it's a good decoy

3) proves that men can't be trusted with young girls - and that a youth pastor can't self-regulate around young girls

Or some combination of the three or a completely different set of reasons? Thanks for doing this.

I think we can conclude that youth pastors are predisposed to molest children and are a menace to society... that is, if we are using the same standards by which radical Christianists conclude that gays are predisposed to molest children.

@11. None of the above. I've always assumed that Dan does this to show the irony of it all. Homophobes accuse gay men of wanting to fuck young boys. They say that "our children" aren't safe around gay people. They don't want us working in day care centers or teaching their children or even being boy scout counselors. They say that their children aren't safe around us, especially gay men.

So Dan has this motif in hit blog. And I think it's brilliant. I also think it's horrifically sad at how easy predatory straights make it for him to have this motif.

As past has proven, it does not matter whether "boy" or "girl" the fact is that it is illegal, and for good reason. Unfortunately the "age" otherwise referring to adulthood has to be drawn somewhere. Children/Teens idolize the seniors and have somewhat of a fantasy, not necessarily sexual about them, otherwise known as a "crush" this does not constitute the actions preditors are taking. So, the "alter boy" syndrome has nothing to do with "gay" or otherwise. We all know there is a hidden agenda whether sexual desire or power, or whatever Freudian take that one wants to have on this. But definately I think that using the language as above only discredits your statement. Unfortunately, this situation can happen any where, any time, any place. The first guy is a total creeper. Well, they ALL are, but that one looks worse than usual. ew.

I personally know the Pedroza family. Alfred, Dan, Vanessa, Rob, Joe. Well, they are all are all a little off. To be honest with you, this doesnt surprise me. His cousins were in the church long before him, and his father moved to the area. Alfred (red) was known for cheating on his gf with young girls, and he was reported to have had sex with a jr. high girl as well. Daniel, well this wasnt his first time with a young girl either. Him and his friend Brandon Tatum had sex with Shanna Buffamonte, as well as Jesse Eldridge when the were assistant Pastors. These girls were both minors. Now Brandon will be leading the group. They have done this before, and Calvary will let the cycle continue!
