Yeah, I'm kind of bummed that no one knows anything about this guy. Where does he stand on issues that matter? Antipot folks are usually also kind of prescriptivist and conservative in social policy areas... I'm worried simply because no one knows anything.

Did the SECB log his responses to a questionnaire on policy issues or something?

Rossi's still around...

That's not how it works. Even if Gregoire were to die, Brad Owens would still not be governor.

Thank god.

@ 3

Actually, yes, that is how it works until a special election is held, I think, either this November or next. I have a hard time understanding the state constitution on this one.

See the state constitution, Article III, Section 10.

Smoke 'em while you got 'em.

Brad seems to think the greatest problem facing the state is "Reefer Madness".
6
that douche looks like jeremy piven as the evil dean in 'old school'.
7
You'd really rather have the Republican?
8
This reminds me of Jr. High when this retarded kid ran for student body VP and people voted for him because he was cute. Then they got upset when he became President after the current President moved away.

This is what happens when people don't take the number 2 job seriously.

What all these Obama appointments are doing is showcasing how unbelievably thin we are when it comes to competent civil servants in this country.

I'm positive the same would be said if it were a Republican in the White House, but that's little consolation.

We need people interested in civil service again, but I don't know what it's gonna take to make it happen.

Brad Owen: DARE to be stupid!
11
@9, I think plenty of really good people would be interested in civil service, but are REALLY TURNED OFF by the whole corrupted process of getting elected.
12
Looks kinda DILFy to me.
13
So a GOP who gets to be governor would legalize pot? How hard is it to get a Dem in there who's OK with legalization? Even Obama isn't going to do that.
14
As a liberal that worked to fight the proposal to get corprorate welfare to force a damn NASCAR track in my home town that Brad Owen had a super hard-on for I can confirm with any future political blowback from my own party that Brad Owen is a super douche.
15
Hey if Obama would replace the Gov. of AZ, taking a center-right Dem and leaving the state with a hard right Republican for Governor, then he would surely leave us with an incompetent governor. The Gov. of VA had to explicitly take his name out of the running in order to keep the same thing from happening there.

Obama doesn't give a shit. But this is absolutely the wrong time for Gregoire to leave.

I enjoy la Douche - what is with all the douching here - talk about fetish word

and, I would love to give Brad Owen a douche, at the beginning of our 12 hour marathon

get real folks, Gregoire is not the end of all things political, and Owen would be a short term caretaker

life continues, simmer down douch baggers and friends

thanks for the heads up!

glad we dodged that bullet-

great reporting- dorks.

@11 - you're absolutely right. As a former public interest nonprofit lobbyist (you know, the kind of lobbyists who have no cash and lobby with facts and letters from constituents), I was close enough to the process to recognize that the qualities and skills that make a good candidate are totally different than the qualities and skills that make for a good elected official. They aren't antithetical skills, and sometimes we're really lucky to find someone who can do both. But often we get the "good candidate/poor legislator" elected. It's very rare when it happens in reverse.

I would always have been a horrible candidate, but when I was younger and had more energy and patience, I would have been a damn good legislator.

the day they build some redneck NASCAR track on THIS side of the mountains will be the day right before that fucker ends up smoldering in ashes.... these wing-nuts need to stay on the OTHER side of the Cascades where they belong... preferably all inside of Hanford...

thank bob that Gregoire will not be serving in the Obama administration... a lot of people worked VERY hard to get her the substantial / sizable win over the idiot snake-oil salesman Dino Rossi... the pretentious jerk who can't stop smiling for some creepy reason... i doubt people like myself worked their butts off this electoral cycle for the creepy Lt. Governor to to be anything other than that... a creepy Lt. Governor who loves NASCAR, and is afraid of those "crazy pot smokers.... "

Please wait...
