What were you hoping to accomplish by getting upset?
2
Fundamental misunderstanding: You were never forbidden to feel upset over Obama choosing Rick Warren to give the invocation. Everyone with half a brain despises Warren, and nobody here liked that he was chosen. People castigated you because you and others were crying about being betrayed, or forgotten, or some other ridiculous bullshit.

Parallel to this post: You are perfectly within your rights to be upset, pissed off, or cancel your subscription to HBO. You are not allowed to pretend as though this is somehow Obama's doing, and "O, God, what if he's just like Clinton?" all over the place

Get it?
3
I just wanted to see if I could tempt you to post something in comments, elenchos. Mission accomplished.
4
He'll bring us all together, but he'll never treat us as equals. He's already backtracked on gay marriage. We're second class citizens to him.
5
Well, at least HBO has helped me warm up my frowny muscles for how put-upon I intend to feel tomorrow. I expect to unleash a big blast of righteous anger at the Warren invocation, but I'm worried Aretha will soon dispel it as she follows him with song, helping every woman feel both untalented and petite. And that is what America means to me.
6
That is frustrating, and HBO should be ashamed of that.

It is small consolation, but I know that NPR at least identified the DC Gay Men's Chorus - they were awesome, by the way. I was focused on them when I was listening, and didn't even realize Josh Groban was singing (then again, he annoys me, so I might have blocked him out). I don't know if the broadcast the invocation, because I missed the beginning.
7
Chris... someone decided to have Robinson give his invocation ten minutes before the broadcast was slated to begin. Who was that someone? Someone at HBO? Doubtful. Likelier it was someone on Obama's team.

I realize that we have to judge Obama on our issues based on what he does once he's president. I've lectured my boyfriend, a Clinton supporter, that we have to give him two years to make good on some of his promises to us, not two months. But my hope-on went a bit limp when this Warren shit happened, and this latest slight doesn't help.

But we'll see, won't we? I'm anxious to have all the great things Obama does for the LGBT community rubbed in my nose a year or two from now by folks who remember my Warren-induced doubts.
8
I'm remaining hope-y. I am totally hopeful about the Obama presidency. But remember that this was supposed to be the BIG THING to make the gays forget big mean Reverend Warren. And it wasn't televised. And from what people say who were there a lot of people (perhaps most) couldn't even hear his prayer! The hell?

I'm disappointed. I don't think this is a harbinger of things to come, but it's sort of a big fuck up.
9
you can betcher pinkest poodle that I'M writing the gangriest email EV-AR to hbo right now--penned in my own steaming, angry gay red blood of course. somehow. (technology. a mystery to me.) hbo! i hate you SO. MUCH. right now.
10
Apparently Garth Brooks, who preformed at the event today, also edited himself. He dropped the verse from "We Will Be Free" that addressed homophobia and religion-based bigotry.
11
If it's one of Obama's people, then the order must have come down from Obama himself. What does Obama have to gain by specifically asking HBO not to broadcast Robinson's invocation? Does he gain back some of the support that he lost when he invited Robinson? Unlikely. Is he somehow unaware of the risk of losing gay support after just learning how loud you people are a few weeks ago? Impossible
Or maybe it was one of Obama's people who acted without orders, in which case we're still missing a motive, and now we can't attribute the fault to Obama at all.

Conversely, maybe HBO made a stupid mistake. Ask Golob what Occam thinks of the whole mess.
12
anyone know of a contact at hbo to write to? or should this be addressed to change.gov?
13
That really hurts. Seeing Rick Warren on Tuesday is going to be doubly upsetting now that we've been slighted and tucked away like a deformed cousin/brother.
14
@12

Yeah, writing letters after the fact, that'll get something done.
15
I think we're in the fool me twice stage here. I am willing to bet by the end of his terms we will be able to fight in thier wars but we will not be able to marry or have federal protections against being fired. I am taking the sticker off the car and cancelling hbo tomorrow. It'll save some money and I can always find Bill Maher online somewhere.
16
What's this Equal time BS? As was stated by others in other places, it would be an OUTRAGE to have the KKK speak, or some Neo-Nazi speak. Yet it's perfectly fine to have Warren speak. WTF? I call BS on this too as others have. Equal time and space for hate? I think not. Equal time and space for bigotry? I think not. Obama IS TO BLAME for all this. Yeah there I said it. Obama, the man of the hour, day, week, month, year, decade, century has given EQUAL time and space to a hate monger, Warren.
17
When has "Equal Time" ever been used as a justification for anything, Sargon?

How long has the KKK been universally reviled? Since forever? So at no point in our nation's history would a KKK member giving the invocation have been overlooked by more than half of the country.

Moreover, how many people in this country think the KKK and Christians, even loud conservative ones, are even remotely analogous?
18
@16 - Sargon, you're not saying anything new or outrageous here. Nobody's defending Warren's words. I'm just saying it's too quick to freak out about Obama or read too much into this. After all, fundamentalists spazz out the worst when they feel attacked or excluded, so you have to come up with ways of confronting them that undermine the crazy persecution complex defenses they all have. There are plenty of good, legitimate reasons for Obama to invite Warren to participate, it doesn't have to be all about slighting the gays.

Yeah, they should've had somebody make sure Robinson got on TV. But in the grand scheme of things, it's a staging fuckup. Nobody died or got their rights taken away.
19
So religion is fine as long as it comes from a gay Bishop? Half the people who comment on Rick Warren decry that "any religion" get's airtime at all, since you know, separation of church and state and all. So why not this? I just find it hypocritical that all these atheists are upset over the lack of a prayer to a Christian God not making on national tv cause the bishop sucks cock.
20
If this weren't an openly gay bishop, you'd never even know this happened. And if the non-gay bishop had been allowed to say a prayer on HBO, there's be a big pissy post about how we had religion thrust down our throat by Comcast, or some such bullshit.

Teh Gays are looking like a bunch of whiny victims, and nicely filling the stereotype of neurotics the right likes to portray us as.

In other words, grow the fuck up, and concentrate on the important shit. Nobody gives a fuck about this crap.

Now, to be productive, look at this: http://www.onenewsnow.com/Church/Default…

It seems Warren is pissing off his fellow Wackjob Christians. What does this mean?
21
Okay, maybe we're just getting a bit overly worked up now? On one hand, they could have left the Bishop in...on the other, are we really so upset that this whole celebration was pretty secular? Or as secular as these things are allowed to be, anyway. We got a couple of "God Bless America"s in there, but nothing too preach-y. And I appreciate that.

As for the choir...they didn't introduce ANY of the other choirs, either. So the gay men's chorus not being singled out wasn't a slight - it was par for the course.

And @10, Garth Brooks also shortened the other two songs he sang as well. Given that this song already caused him a lot of controversy (it was banned from many country radio stations), and given that he's always been supportive of his lesbian sister, I don't think that this was a dig - I think it was a coincidence.
22
@4
But of all the filthy animals I know, you all are among the filthiest, if that helps any.
23
Hey Dan,
I'm really sorry about that Robinson/choir fiasco.
I really want to make it up.
I will hold this football
and you get a big running start
and come kick it.
ready....
24
@20- Thanks for the link. The mirror-image comments thread there is quite revealing. Warren is a great wedge against the far right, and that comments thread really shows it.
25
HAHAHAHAHAHA
HOHOHOHO
HEEHEEHEEHEEHEE
HAHAHAHA

stop it!!
you kids are killing me!

welcome to the bigs, jr.

(btw Dan, @7; in case Obama hasn't done anything for GLBT in a year we can borrow some of the Obama girls' new pooch's shit to rub your nose in.
I have connections and am eager to help!
26
FYI, Bishop Robinson's prayer is at http://www.episcopalcafe.com/lead/faith_…
27
And we're all going to tune in to Obama's Inauguration and get get all giddy if he uses the word gay. Talk about lowering our queer expectations.
28
"How about the fact that tonight's other big gay moment—the D.C. gay men's chorus singing with Josh Groban—passed without the chorus, unlike every other performer, being identified?"

Were any of the choruses that sang Identified? I've read some places they were, some they were not. Can anyone verify that?
29
Yes, Dan, you have permission to get upset. Everyone has "permission" to have whatever feelings they have.

The key is what you do with those feelings. Are we going to act every time we feel or judge any "slight" by the Obama administration? Are we going to turn every "slight" into a cause celeb?

Or are we going to pick our battles--like ENDA, DADT, DOMA--the ones with victories that are more than symbolic, with actual impacts on all our lives--and devote our energy there?

Our political capital is not endless, or nor is our passion, our energy, our organization.

I'm not saying nobody has the right to "feel" upset at one of our own not making the HBO broadcast. Feel whatever you feel. What I'm asking is for us to consider what our next ACTION is going to be. I ask that we take a breath and decide how we want to proceed as a movement.
30
(And for what it's worth, the NPR audio simulcast DID identify the gay chorus.)
31
This is all about 2012. My bet is that Obama is going to court the bigot vote for the next four years. He's run out of hands with which to extend his middle finger at the gays. What are we going to do, vote Republican? Meanwhile he chips away at the Republican's monopoly on the Evangelical vote, and thereby securing his second term.
32
None of the other choirs were identified either. Sheesh, people, I'm kind of tired of all the whining, fellow teh gays. He IS a politician. He will always be pissing someone off.
33
29
ACTION!
I am shredding my new official Obama portrait as we speak.
34
I know how you feel. I am still upset that MTV cut to commercial during the Black Sabbath reunion at the original Live Aid. I think it was a dumb TV decision rather than some "Obama hates the gays" conspiracy.

Writing HBO won't do anything, but writing change.gov, Ellen, Rachel Maddow, Countdown, and the Huffington Post can get something going on. (I wrote to all of the above).
35
@Niable..... yabetcha, we need to ACT UP every freakin time we're betrayed by our friends! Write letters and emails. Sing "I Am What I Am" in unison to drown out Warren's jabber. Die in across Pennsylvania Avenue to slow the parade. The non-violent possibilities are endless. Then, when the hard shit like DOMA, ENDA, and DADT require action, our complacency will not be taken for granted.
36
@21

Brooks supports his lesbian sister by closeting his own song? Um, no. He just told her she needs to stfu, and he won't run any interference for her.

Garth's sister: if you're out there, I sympathize. I've got a well-meaning but fundamentally spineless brother too.
37

You folks are sitting here with HYPOCRISY dripping down your faces.
You don't mind a prayer as long as a queer gives it.
You don't mind shoving religion into the Constitution as long as it is queer marriage religion.
No one is fooled.
No one is buying it.
Lest of all Obama.
38
This is the danger of investing too much importance in symbolic acts (anger at Warren's invitation, elation at Robinson's invitation) and of getting too "steamed" about something that didn't save anyone's job, didn't open up an opportunity for anyone to serve the country, or didn't grant a single one of the 1138 federal rights and privileges of marriage.

Get upset, email the campaign, by all means express those "feelings." Then sleep on it, get over it, and start strategizing what you are going to do to help make real progress on the real issues, with the understanding that we're not going to get invitations to every concert, or be on every broadcast, or win every single battle (large or small) ...and focus on what we need to do to make the most of this historic opportunity to stay on the inside of the political action when real change is at our grasp, rather than be relegated to the fringes because every time we don't get our way or feel insulted, we scream and cry and shake our fists *for weeks* like many folks did over Warren.

Yes, communicate with the administration, more importantly STAY involved, but tantrums won't get us anywhere. We want Rahm Emmanuel to keep taking our calls, especially when key judicial appointments are at stake, when pro-LGBT legislation is up for votes, and Obama has a pen in his hand.

Act, don't react.
39
Garth Brooks is still alive? Huh.
40
The PRIORITY for anyone who doesn't like being invisible is to be noticed and not be edited/censored. What part of STOP IGNORING THE ISSUE OF GAYS IN AMERICA do you not understand?????????????????????????????????????
41
@35. I'd love to agree (and I'm old enough to have been around for the ACT-Up years the first time around) but the "AIDS Coaltion To Unleash Power" came together because the Reagan and Bush administrations were turning a deaf ear to the crisis (and Dan would agree, back then, it was a CRISIS--people were dying by the thousands). It was a necessary tactic, a sort of DefCon 1 for queers. It made things happen.

Are we really facing the same situation right now, GreatWhiteBear? Or might we want to try working with the current administration which, so far, on paper (or website) pledges to be the most pro-LGBT in the history of the United States? How about we try some constructive engagements before we do the die-ins, or help the Rick Warrens of the country raise millions with fundraising letters about how the Queers are out to Silence Prayer?

Devil's Advocate--say we do get screwed, Obama caves on the real issues, we don't get a vote on ENDA and Don't Ask/Don't Tell and DOMA stay put. Sure, I'll be right there with you at the barricades.

But before we ratchet things up, I don't think I wanna "die-in" because some preacher got to say grace at a ceremony.
42
Where did you get the picture that goes with the post?
I was upset, but looking at the picture I think;
"what a shit-eating grinning douchbag. Why do I give a F if HBO broadcast him or not?!"
That made me feel better.
43
41
WTF are you talking about?
WE cured AIDS.

Here is the full text of the prayer, from Robinson's diocesan web site:

"A Prayer for the Nation and Our Next President, Barack Obama
By The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson, Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire

Welcome to Washington! The fun is about to begin, but first, please join me in pausing for a moment, to ask God’s blessing upon our nation and our next president.

O God of our many understandings, we pray that you will…

Bless us with tears – for a world in which over a billion people exist on less than a dollar a day, where young women from many lands are beaten and raped for wanting an education, and thousands die daily from malnutrition, malaria, and AIDS.

Bless us with anger – at discrimination, at home and abroad, against refugees and immigrants, women, people of color, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Bless us with discomfort – at the easy, simplistic “answers” we’ve preferred to hear from our politicians, instead of the truth, about ourselves and the world, which we need to face if we are going to rise to the challenges of the future.

Bless us with patience – and the knowledge that none of what ails us will be “fixed” anytime soon, and the understanding that our new president is a human being, not a messiah.

Bless us with humility – open to understanding that our own needs must always be balanced with those of the world.

Bless us with freedom from mere tolerance – replacing it with a genuine respect and warm embrace of our differences, and an understanding that in our diversity, we are stronger.

Bless us with compassion and generosity – remembering that every religion’s God judges us by the way we care for the most vulnerable in the human community, whether across town or across the world.

And God, we give you thanks for your child Barack, as he assumes the office of President of the United States.

Give him wisdom beyond his years, and inspire him with Lincoln’s reconciling leadership style, President Kennedy’s ability to enlist our best efforts, and Dr. King’s dream of a nation for ALL the people.

Give him a quiet heart, for our Ship of State needs a steady, calm captain in these times.

Give him stirring words, for we will need to be inspired and motivated to make the personal and common sacrifices necessary to facing the challenges ahead.

Make him color-blind, reminding him of his own words that under his leadership, there will be neither red nor blue states, but the United States.

Help him remember his own oppression as a minority, drawing on that experience of discrimination, that he might seek to change the lives of those who are still its victims.

Give him the strength to find family time and privacy, and help him remember that even though he is president, a father only gets one shot at his daughters’ childhoods.

And please, God, keep him safe. We know we ask too much of our presidents, and we’re asking FAR too much of this one. We know the risk he and his wife are taking for all of us, and we implore you, O good and great God, to keep him safe. Hold him in the palm of your hand – that he might do the work we have called him to do, that he might find joy in this impossible calling, and that in the end, he might lead us as a nation to a place of integrity, prosperity and peace.

AMEN."
45
I just sent my letter off to change.gov, and also requested some sort of response as to who made this decision and why.
46
While I could certainly see it as a slight to blackout the invocation or not credit the DC Gay Men's Chorus, I seriously doubt that Obama's involvement in the planning of this production advanced to that level of detail. I blame Obama for selecting Warren, but not for this situation.

The thing is, he will never be able to make everyone happy all of the time. But that's ok, it's still a whole new era. Things are going to get better, but they will never be perfect. Still, I like the sound of better.
47
44

HBO is wise
48
Just saw the DC Gay Men's Chorus backing up Groban and what's her name. No ID of them, or any other chorus. Boy that gay men chorus is all white guys in a majority black city. All righty then.
49
get a grip Dan - your nerves are frayed

your political acumen is zero
50
My fellow LGBT and supports

I want equality now. I know society as a whole doesn't get it, but is getting there. Society doesn't change fast enough to satisfy many of us. Sure be angry, but better yet, try and channel that energy into something that makes a difference, said the openly gay guy living in Arkansas trying to make a difference while also have a life. You want to talk about ANGRY?! I run into enough to make me angry. Sometimes I want to move so far away from here because I don't know how to deal with what is here. Then I think about what is good about here. Yes, I moved here of my own accord and have embraced the challenge. Maybe with your energy/anger you can go where they don't know any better about LGBT issues and live your life as a part of the community open and equal. (like Dan did during the election when he was part of the Huckabee Press Corps). Get to know the enemy, if possible and paletable. (it is not always possible or paletable or even safe) All the marches in the city with tons of gays are great at energizing us and you big city guys do tend to have better laws for LGBT community, but I think the change can also come with a face that people see every day and think, "that's my friend/family/community member" Not just on websites and at political marches.

I want change now and wish it could come faster, but it doesn't with bitchin' and moaning. People need to learn thru life experience. More people are turned off by angry gays. They do respond to civic/communal engagement.

Angry gays can help, but usually don't. I am sometimes angry about this 2nd class citizenship and did go out and march here in AR after Prop 8 passed. I can't waste too much time being angry even though I do have to sometimes detox from this "not perfectly gay friendly environment"

Yes PLEASE BE ANGRY as I sometimes am, and then channel it to find a way to use it to make a difference.

What kind of "difference" is up to you.

Best,

Drew
In Arkansas

P.S. A little unorganized, but I hope my main ideas come across.
51
THE DC GAY MENS CHORUS IS RACIST THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO BE ON OUR BROADCAST CHANNELS AND TOO TYPICAL OF THE SORT OF ANTI-QUEER GAYS TYPIFIED BY SAVAGE AND COMPANY AT THE STRANGER

I CALL FOR A GENERAL STRIKE AND A DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH QUEERS OF COLOR AND DYKES OF SIZE. MEET AT THE POST OFFICE AND WE WILL MARCH TO THE FEDERAL BUILDING!!!
52
50 move to Iran
53
51
PS
DYKES MUST TIP SCALES @ 210lbs TO QUALIFY
54
Anti-queer gays are just the worst.

55

Robinson should be invited to give his prayer again on Tuesday after Rick Warren's invocation.

Why after? Because they're going to show Warren, so they'd have no excuse not to show Robinson.
56
sent to Change.gov's civil rights section after reading Dan's post:

I am disappointed to learn that the HBO broadcast of the inaugural concert failed to include the invocation by gay Episcopal bishop Gene Robinson.

Also, the D.C. gay men's chorus singing with Josh Groban was not, unlike every other performer, identified on the stage.

I do not know how much control Obama had over the HBO broadcast, but together these two faults burnt the bridge that Obama had rebuilt after choosing hate-preaching Rick Warren for his inaugural invocation tomorrow.

Homophobia is a big beast to kill and Obama is going to have to work harder than this if he is to live up to his campaign promises.

Sincerely-
57
I'm RIDING the BEAST!!

eeehay!
58
And also, @57, it would make much more of an impact to have Robinson on the broadcast networks than on a premium channel.

Seriously, of the 25% of American households who subscribe to HBO, how many were watching that concert?

Don't get mad. Get even.
59
oops, that would be @55.

You go ride that beast, 57.
60
Indeed, @58. Those of us who listened to the NPR live audio feed heard them identify that the Gay Men's Chorus was singing. Don't know if they included Robinson's prayer (I tuned in late).
61
I doubt it was intentional of HBO to do that... I mean, that's the station that brought us Six Feet Under. Like anything actually good on tv, it was probably just edited due to time constraints.
62
@56

None of the choruses were identified. None. Why should the Gay Men's Chorus be? The main performers, yes, choruses, no.
63
Bellyache much Savage?

Ever since he defended bisexual bashing I can't give a fuck about defending Dan's gay issues.
64
personally i'm outraged that Obama didn't sign me up for HBO and pay for it... and i could use a tivo too ... and a good DVD burner so i can copy stuff i get at the library.
65
HBO can suck it.
66
I wish Warren Zevon would give the invocation instead of Rev. Warren.
67
Why do you assume it was Obama's people? It's probably the network people that did it.
68
and come to think of it WHY was there no Prayer by an ATHEIST?
An UNMARRIED Atheist?
And why did they let Garth Brooks Sing and not CHRIS GAINES?

i am really upset because i really did think that Obama was a Marxist-Leninist like they said. Instead he pals around with Bono. at least thank god it wasn't Coldplay.
69
@20: great link...thanks.

I love that they are having a vote:
"President-elect Obama has invited a homosexual bishop to pray at one of the presidential inaugural events. Is that the kind of 'change' you believe in?"

And that currently 97% are saying No.
70
None of the choruses were identified in the television broadcast, and that "Who cares? They're not celebrities" attitude from HBO is probably what led to the omission of Robinson.
71
"BLESS us with anger-at discrimination..."
MY BLESSING OVERFLOWETH

All bets are off with Warren at MLK and on Tuesday's Invocation

don't just turn you back on Warren yell, " Go F*CK YOU FAT BREEDER SELF!"
72
WE ARE TWO

hetero-America and faggots
73
"don't just turn you back on Warren yell, " Go F*CK YOU FAT BREEDER SELF!"

Yes! Insult 90% of the population! That's the way you earn respect!

Who needs homophobes when you've got brainiacs like Mark?
74
I was at the concert on the mall. I noticed that Robinson went on early - with little or no introduction. Most of the crowd was still chatting away because they did not even realize it was a prayer, until well into it. I remember thinking that HBO probably would not be broadcasting it... because I don't see too many invocations being broadcast on HBO events. The prayer was delivered adequately, but not a real earth mover.

BTW, the crowd at the mall was heavily of gay and lesbian. Beyonce did not sing bootylicious which was a let down to many.
75
@70 Exactly. Before the queer blogosphere gets its panties all wadded up, PLEASE do the homework. Otherwise they give their WingNut nemeses a good name.

We DID get a mention in the speech, from the President-elect himself, all during the campaign, during his train stops, and tonight on your precious HBO. He mentions queers every chance he gets. Can he get a shout out for that?

And if you say to that "it's just a speech," I'd reply "and Robinson (and Warren) is just a prayer."
76
How about a Left Handed preacher? With a Limp? Eczema?
Let's all join in and feel left out!
If not me? WHO?

I gotta admit that Gene Robinson looks pretty in that hat though...
77
We got a mention in the speech? Man, I wish I'd known. I would've included that info in my original blog post.

NEWSFLASH -- Just in… it seems that Roy and Silo, the two Gay chinstrap penguins from the Central Park Zoo in Manhattan are to be reunited and flown to the South Pole after officials on the Obama transition team gave them permission to hold a pre-inaugural ceremony and prayer for Obama in Antarctica.

These Gay love birds have been carefully chosen to be joint Masters of Ceremony at this glorious celebration commemorating our new Fuhrer. And like Bishop Robinson‘s egg-hunt at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, this event will also be held several days before the “real” inauguration, and far enough away, so as not to generate too much press attention and stress for the incoming Obama administration.

The theme of this occasion, as well as the Ball following it (which was generously arranged by the HRC at the South Pole) will be titled: “Out of Sight; Out of Mind In Our New Obama Nation”.

Rainbow-colored leg-warmers and sequined purple parkas are being furnished, free of charge, by Uncle Tom’s Fashion Wear; while the US Military has volunteered to fly in and to air-drop guests at the event (parachutes, of course, are optional).

Entertainment will be provided by Ellen DeGeneres doing her famous “Step ‘em, Fetch it” dance routine to be taped and telecasted later for her post-menopausal hetero plantation mamas; while music will be furnished by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir which will be handing out magic underwear and free “sexual re-orientation” tickets to heaven after the event.

Finally, refreshments will consist of good old fashion Jim Jones Kool-Aid -- complements of both the Democratic and Republican Members of the House and the Senate.

A great time is expected to be had by all.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

UPDATE: All major news-outlets did not report on this event either, because Brittany Spears was spotted getting out of her car not wearing underwear again. Meanwhile, HBO is trying desperately to deny rumors that Gay writers, directors and actors are responsible for their most successful cable TV series, past and present, (i.e. True Blood, Six Feet Under, etc.). It seems that a rebellion by the GLBT slaves on the Entertainment Plantation has been averted. Corporate Media GLBT blackout has restored invisibility regarding the insurrectionists. The Job security weapon was efficiently used for GLBT crowd control.

Now for the weather report:
The political forecast for incoming President Obama: Sunny and Status Quo with intermitted ass-kissing; precipitated by White Guilt.

And for the GLBT community: Cloudy with continuing irrelevancy.

…That is all -- for now.

@dumbass is as dumbass does

You can gargle and swallow the G*D DAMN share of the SPIT rick warren spews at every LGBT in America.

at least you live up to your nickname,,,,dumbass
81
The real issue here is that there should be no prayer - be it from a gay or straight person - as part of the inauguration. What happened to "get your church out of my state," guys?

If Obama's goal is to unify us as a country, he shouldn't include a Christian prayer as part of his inauguration. This isn't just a gay issue. This is a Jewish, Islamic, pagan, atheist, Buddhist, etc. issue, too.

Also, I (as a totally angry lesbian) totally think that they cut the invocation because it was boring compared to Beyonce or whomever was shaking their ass to celebrate our 44th president.
82
Queers are "allowed" to ride the bus, but we have to stay VERY QUIET hidden in the back. I think our time to be angry was long ago.
[equality tax protest]

83
The only surprise here is that anyone was surprised. Obama's true feelings towards the gay community are well documented, and they are NOT the sweet nothings he's been whispering into our ears for more than a year now.
84
In Unison queers could pray Robinson's prayer as Warren attempts to give the Invocation
85
OOO! Mark! You really got me, didn't you! Boy, what an effective argument!!! Jesus, I am faced!

Go back to your studio apartment in your gay ghetto and throw darts at your picture of Obama. That's about the most effective thing people like you can do.
86
@John Bisceqlia

A nice image was made by a contributor to Pam's House Blend
The Obama LGBT logo with tire tracks across it
a few signs like that might liven up the Inaugural

Ha! At least I can still keep a buttplug in Marky. How's that anal reconstruction surgery coming along for you? Did you finally get Medicaid to pay for it?

@dumbass

I may be old, but my lover and I have no need of hard rubber toys

keep trying I'm sure you'll get a pity date ....eventually
90
Oh, you graduated from that leaky inflatable love doll then, did you? What a difference an evening at the Crescent can make... Or have you been cruising boner row again?

No matter. Glad you're happy dear. For now. When this "lover" leaves, there's always Fantasy Unlimited. Lots of other seniors in the theater there for you.

Or maybe Bremerton.....Isn't the Turf News still open? I'm sure even you could find someone there, and you could probably scrape together enough for the ferry.

Here's the VIDEO of Robinson's prayer

@dumbass

Insults are an art form, and less is more
I busted your balls with a single sentence, it takes you three paragraphs and you didn't land a blow...so to speak
REMEMBER...brevity.....sweetie

Gene Robinson was not included on the HBO broadcast for one reason. He is an ass.

With heroes like Robinson who needs enemies?
95
C-Span DID include it. Also, even if it is the butt of SNL jokes, folks DO watch CSPAN.
96
I know this will probably be very unpopular but I don't think gay people, or any people, should have anything to do with religion. In particular, a religion that is as screwed up as Christianity. So if Robinson, or anyone who is involved with it feels slighted, too fucking bad. And by the way, ABC News showed a big printed screen of a quote from Psalms admonishing Americans for their admiration of our new President. Disgusting!
97
Oh, you busted my Balls, Mark? I must have missed it. Probably because your "lover" was giving me an AWESOME rim job. Whatever you're paying him, it's not enough.....
98
you 'boys' are an embarrassment to all queers
99
The words in my head are this: FUCK that fuckin' politician asshole Obama and all the fucking retarded idiots who worked for him and gave money to him and invested their fucking hearts and minds in him. They fucking GET what they fucking deserve!!!

And goddamn it... that includes me. I feel like such a damn fool for having ONCE AGAIN invested my trust in a fucking POLITICIAN. I worked hard for this guy and I got sucked in and fucked up the ass like every other fucking faggot who thought it would be any different this time around.

I hate being made to feel like a fool AGAIN, but I have to admit, we ARE fools if we think we can keep trusting anyone but ourselves to bring change.

if barrack gets the wars over with and the economy back on track, that is good enough for my big invisible dykey ass. he cannot do anything if we do a hate campaign over something perceived as a slight ,when in fact it may be the most clever politcal move yet. queer ire is easier to fix and the right wing is hammering warren right now and making them feel like their movement is losing steam. THIS TAKES SOME RIGHT WING HATE OFF OBAMA! i will bide my time because i have been disappointed by mainstream politics so much and this is the most hope we've had in mainstream politics, for the good of the planet. i am too radical to be upset before the guy has a chance to do anything i can really bitch about, in light of 8 yrs of bush. get a grip people. i think he will surprise us in good ways, but it is not on the top of the list right now, but it is on the list and we will get gay marriage, he has to do the dance first, get in there, change the obvious ,forefront issues. he is an ally compared to bush, OKAY?
