What the hell is wrong with this woman? Thanks for advancing the national dialogue yet again, you stupid, stupid person.
2
Someone needs to start the "draft Bachmann for President" movement STAT. She's pure solid gold.
3
Are people in her district on board with stuff like this?
4
I'm all for talking points but this is just stupid, 64 people in a country of 320 million IS NOT A FUCKING EPIDEMIC. It's not anything to be alarmed about, sure it's great to have as much information as possible but epidemic?

P.S. We all know Obama created swine flu, we've all seen the paperwork and the evidence is totally legit. He released it in Mexico under the name Barry and was treated with the only known cure. He does this because he wants to socialise medicine so he can enslave the human race forever.
5
Michelle Bachmann adding to her litany of bizarre and idiotic statements. Here is another Bachmann gem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAaDVOd2s…
6
Oh my god she's a LOON!
Please tell me she doesn't represent the intelligence of 1/2 the nation.
7
06 -- you know she does. palin/bachmann '12! fascist church ladies of the country, unite!
8
please don't blame mn for this. we're not that stupid.
9
That's funny, because I find it interesting that this is happening after her party voted to strip funding for pandemic prepardness from the stimulus package. Not that I'm blaming the Republicans, I just find it interesting.
10
Palin-Bachmann '12!

OMG.
11
Ever notice how in every interview she always has this blissful, serene look on her face? That's a surefire indicator of insanity right there.
12
Even if it were true, I've got a big bag of other coincidences for her. For instance, did you know that the biggest terror attack on foreign soil took place during a Republican Presidency, AND while ruled by the son of a former President! All of our major anthrax attacks took place during a Republican presidency. The start of every major military movement in Iraq has taken place during GOP reign, as did individual states recognition of homosexual marriage until the momentum carried into the most recent Democratic occupation.

The fact that these flu "pandemics" - you know, the wiping out of major percentages of our population like what we've seen this month - occur during Democratic reigns, except when they don't as mentioned in the article, seems to point the finger towards the losing party, no? What would a winning party, with more or less carte blanche to spend trillions of dollars and hesitate on restoring the civil rights and liberties swallowed by the previous administrations, gain by infecting its own supporters?

Not much. Applying Occam's Razor as well as the more legally respected "She who smelt it, dealt it" rules, I think Bachmann's farting up the room something fierce, every time she opens that mouth of hers.

sincerely,
diggum

She has a well of people who will believe anything that sounds vaguely conspiratorial. These are the same people who think the illuninati are behind everything or that the ancient Mayans knew anything about 2012. She appeals to the tinfoil hat crowd.
14
With the current trend of Conservatives putting their craziest feet foward (Miss CA, Bachmann, Limbaugh, etc) and more and more Moderate Republicans jumping ship (a la Specter) it seems like this party is headed for complete anhilation. Either that or Fox is setting the stage for the most awesome reality show ever.
15
Ah, Michelle. I knew I could count on you to say something completely nuts. You are a special kind of crazy.

I can't wait to hear what she'll say about Specter defecting to the democrats. That should be good too.
16
@11, Unfortunately, that's just the Botox.
17
@11 & @16 - It's a little more than Botox. It's the timing of her smiles, no matter how many wrinkles are present. Spend enough time with crazies, and you begin to recognize the signs. She seems like someone who spent a little too much time reading pulp & watching soaps as a teenager - her brain never made the transition to adult reality.

When people with only a childlike mind are thrust into an adult world, they say things that defy belief. Conspiracy theorists are not very far removed from older kids that still believe in Santa.

Bachmann has a growing record of absolutely crazy statements: it's pretty fair to conclude that she is mentally deficient. This is a lot more than a grab for attention, it's a full-on illness.
18
This is all a part of GOP's master plan. Put the batshit crazy rightwingers out there until the public gets use to thinking that all of the GOP is run by Hitler Youth. At that point they can then re-introduce rightwing extremists and everyone will see them as moderates.

It is as brilliant as it is flawed. What they don't realize is that the right wing crazies will refuse to relinquish their place in the limelight.
19
@8: Sorry, but smart Americans are empiricists; we believe what we see.

Michelle "Batshit-Crazy" Bachmann and Norm "Chicklet-Teeth" Coleman are your main representatives in national politics until Al Franken can (finally!) be allowed to take his Senate seat?!

By that evidence, Minnesotans may be the stupidest people on Earth. Maybe in recorded history.
20
I propose that, henceforth, crazy people be referred to as "bachmanns".
21
When I was 10, in 1968 I was sicker than shit from the infamous and deadly 1968 Hong Kong Flu. I can remember it in extremely florid detail even to this day.

And who the fuck was president in 1968 when I was puking and shitting and burning with fever and actually having a week home when my mom spoiled me cuz the other three were at school?

NIXON

No wonder I'm a lib.
22
@20: That's not really fair. I know two Bachmanns and both are very nice, not crazy people who are probably just as appalled by this lady as everyone else.
23
@21: If it was 1968, it was JBJ. Sorry.

@all: my saddest friends are the ones in MN CD6. The DFL, fucking up as always, ran terrible candidates (no legislative experience of any kind) against Bachmann not once but twice. Had they run anyone with even state house experience, this abomination wouldn't be walking the halls of the US Capital. I miss MN, but the DFL are some of the biggest dickweeds on the planet.

24
@19: Klobuchar, Wellstone, Mondale, Humphrey, the longest active streak of any state of voting for a democrat in Presidential elections...

Minnesotans do okay.
25
OK, I dig Bachmann solo (she's got LEGS!) but where are Turner & Overdrive? Are they History? Did they stay in Minnesota? what? ^..^
26
MN has one crazy district - and she nearly threw it away in the last days of the last campaign.

I personally find it handy to 1) isolate those Minnesotans in their own district and 2) have a nice vocal reminder to SANE conservatives and moderates which party is open to sane governing. We can talk issues, but we can't get there if we have to debate reality first.

Please wait...
