I'm not sure why people are so hysterical. That looks like everything is just peachy.
2
My Japanese is pretty rusty but I think he said "OH GOD! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!"

NHK Television has been showing and re-showing a number of nuke site videos, with English translation. I haven't seen this one yet, but it's likely to show up. http://jibtv.com/program/fullscreen.aspx

If they're going to the risk of flying through smoke plumes and stuff, it seems as though their videos might be more useful to people trying to figure out what to do next if they used image stabilization. (Although the freeze-frames look pretty good; better than the porno screen grabs I'm always looking at.)

0:00 - 0:23 We are now over the reactor complex. The evidence of fire is present, but the fire is not burning with intensity. Reactor #3 received a direct hit from the Toxic Sea Lizard's (ie Godzilla) foot.

0:23 - 0:28 Today on Oprah, big squid and a performance by Three Dog Night

0:28 - 0:44 No defecation of Godzilla is located, but of note is counter-stereotypical situation: power pylons not all knocked down by Sea Lizard as depicted in many movies with poor dubbing.

0:44 - 0:50 Four eggs were found in the midst of the wreckage

0:50 - 1:33 Look at this damn mess. What a problem. Someone needs to come over here and clean it now because the power is down and I cannot boil my noodle. I am so angry, I will be silent and count backwards.../silence/...OK, now I am over it. Time to go away from here and think about dinner. Somehow. How will I cook it? Damn. I am angry again.

image stabilization seems to have been knocked out as well

@5 Your translation is going over quite well in this corner of Canada, especially the part about the eggs....

I really hope that wasn't the real video they took while risking their lives......let's just hope it's a copilot with a shitty camera taking some backup shots if their multi million dollar, high resolution, high speed camera that sits on the bottom of the plane fails to work.....

or maybe Japan is just cutting corners to save money on everything they do.
9
and by plane I mean helicopter.....

Here's my translation: (also note that the numbers in the captions at the bottom of the screen denote the reactor #)

(Caption: Fukushima 1 Filmed from the Air at Close Range)
The latest footage in just now from Fukushima Plant No. 1.

(Caption: 4 PM yesterday)
This was filmed by a TEPCO employee flying in a Self-Defence Force helicopter yesterday.

You can tell that the roof of the building housing Reactor 3 has blown off, damaged by the hydrogen explosion on the 14th, and that the framing is twisted.

0:23
Rubble is strewn around the area in great quantities, and white smoke is spreading up into the air.

0:35
And now Reactor 4, with the form of the reactor building slightly more preserved than Reactor 3’s. White smoke is coming out from its side, although less than the amount of Reactor 3’s.

0:51
According to the TEPCO personnel flying in the helicopter, there is something water-like remaining in the location believed to be the spent fuel pool.

1:19
TEPCO explains that the situation is more serious at Reactor 3, which they poured water onto today.

1:26
You can tell that white smoke is coming from it at multiple locations.

Impressive preview trailer for "Cloverfield 2" right there.

(And yes, this attempt at gallows humor is meant for distraction from the realization that everyone in that helicopter is likely to end up with some level of radiation sickness. I'd be shaking too, frankly.)

Please wait...
