Ironically, you can buy used copies for under $5 INCLUDING shipping (http://textbookx.com/detail.php?upc=9780…). I'm in no way undercutting the generosity of the Vonnegut Library, but classic books are dirt-cheap these days.

@3 As a frequent buyer of second-hand books, I can tell you that Kurt Vonnegut's books (especially Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse Five) are very rare in used condition. They get snapped up really quickly, and most people are so attached to them that they don't usually get rid of them. It took a couple years of casually looking each time I went book-hunting to find Slaughterhouse Five.

One thing about Vonnegut.

He's real easy to read, and the series comes in flavorful colors.

That makes the B students able to digest it.

By the way, Valerie Perrine as Montana Wildhack should make any red blooded American take notice!

Let's not forget to thank Wesley Scroggins for almost certainly making Slaughterhouse-Five the best-read book in those school districts. Maybe we can pick another book for him to ban^H^H^H advertise for us?
