Book people are the best people.
You want to get the true sentiment of the nation's founders? Go to a library convention.
2
THAT is an awesome response.

Ironically, you can buy used copies for under $5 INCLUDING shipping (http://textbookx.com/detail.php?upc=9780…). I'm in no way undercutting the generosity of the Vonnegut Library, but classic books are dirt-cheap these days.

...aaaaaand donation sent.

@3 How is this ironic? It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.
6
Complete and utter awesomeness.

Take THAT, Mr Scroggins!

Kurt Vonnegut: sassing the man from beyond the grave
8
@3 - And ironically, you can get it for zero dollars by being a high school student in Republic, Missouri, and following the instructions in this post. Ironic, isn't it?

@1 Heartily seconded

Sent $50. Take that, fuckers.

most excellent.

@3 As a frequent buyer of second-hand books, I can tell you that Kurt Vonnegut's books (especially Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse Five) are very rare in used condition. They get snapped up really quickly, and most people are so attached to them that they don't usually get rid of them. It took a couple years of casually looking each time I went book-hunting to find Slaughterhouse Five.

Did anyone else notice the browser icon for the KVML? OMG I love those people.

One thing about Vonnegut.

He's real easy to read, and the series comes in flavorful colors.

That makes the B students able to digest it.

By the way, Valerie Perrine as Montana Wildhack should make any red blooded American take notice!

Let's not forget to thank Wesley Scroggins for almost certainly making Slaughterhouse-Five the best-read book in those school districts. Maybe we can pick another book for him to ban^H^H^H advertise for us?
16
This is awesome. From someone who goes to school very near Republic, MO, this makes me very happy to read.
17
The KVML is certainly worth a visit if you are ever in Indy.

Chipped in another 20, and posted to facebook. Let's make sure they've got enough for the next school district, too.

Please wait...
