Isn't that great - here's where they got the audio and copypasted the transcript - from the archives of our "never a profile in courage" council - btw when O'Brien and McGinn punted to voters by leading Ref 1, you thought that was pretty courageous, no?

LUKE: "Are you for that provision which legalizes murder? You have ... "
MILLER: "No, I'm not in favor of that on the basis that it violates the sixth commandment of the decalogue: Thou Shalt Not Kill. "
LUKE: "You are, of course, a minister, and I don't it have it available, but what chapter and verse is it in the bible, in the New Testament, 'Love thy neighbor as thyself?'"
MILLER: "Um... I don't know the exact verse right offhand. But I see your point. Murderers should be hugged and given a cookie. That's what I would want for myself....."
LUKE: "Thank you."

Maybe you're looking at that all wrong. Love your neighbor as yourself, but if you're doing everything else right, you should feel pretty bad about yourself, too.

Maybe that is the crux, MacCroc. If you are feeling very hateful towards yourself, and then are being hateful towards everyone else, then you are hating/loving them as you do yourself and following the words of the gospel. ??

It's true the "love thy neighbor" line appears in the OT (Leviticus 19) but it's more of an NT message (Matthew 5, Matthew 22, Mark 12, Luke 10). It's part of the sermon on the mount, for God's sake.
