The President of the United States was politically active? Get right out of town. Shut the front door.
2
Andrew Breitbart worked himself to death, excited and enraged himself beyond all reason ang against doctors' warnings about his heart condition and blood pressure, so that he could reveal to the world the amazing truth that Obama was involved in campus politics as a law student, and also (earlier this week) that a dozen years ago Obama attended a play and participated in a panel discussion about Saul Alinsky. Suppose Breitbart's young family feels it was worth it?
3
Yeah yeah controversy blahblah. It is so fun to see him in his younger days!
4
Obama was protesting in support of women's and minorities rights?

Yes, I can see how that will piss off the republicans.
5
Ooh, I was there! Well, not THERE there; I'm certainly not in the video, unless there's a dork in the background carrying a gigantic video display unit across the campus. But I was working there at the time. It is a certainty that Obama used a catalog terminal in the law library that I installed. Whoo hoo! Obama might have had my skin molecules touching his!

The man looks terrific here. Controversy my ass.
6
I don't understand why this is so "shocking." I swear, I saw this footing on tv (PBS?) in a story about Obama's life, consisting of interviews with some of his closest friends and acquantances from different periods of his life, when he was initially running for president in '08.
7
The hand in and out of the pocket thing is a little distracting. He has refined his style.
8
So having briefly reviewed Prof. Bell's wiki my only guess is that the rightwing is going to go with:

Obama supports Bell - Bell talked about race - Obama hates white people!

This reminds me of that Elizabeth Warren video where she was talking about how corporations have to contribute their fair share. Liberals shared it because they loved it. Conservatives shared it because they were sure they had caught her in some terrible admission.

I can only speculate what the Glenn Beck alternate universe sees when they see that video, but Obama's base is going to see a guy dedicated to progressive issues since his youth.
9
what a hottie.
10
Agreed: a hottie. What's up with the weird skip at the end of the video though? Is something edited out?
11
Over twenty years ago? Really? If this is what they've got, they lose.
12
BREAKING: Black person; Republicans outraged
13
@8, according to Republicans, racism officially ended in 1964, and anyone who so much as mentions race since then, or suggests for an instant that racism might exist, is Huey Newton and George Jackson rolled up in one.

When Republicans watch this video, they see a rifle in his hand.
14
@10, a great deal has been edited out. This isn't the same as what Hannity will be airing tonight.
15
and fred hampton, fnarf. don't forget fred hampton. fred hampton won slog happy trivia for our team.
16
He seems very Presidential in that video. And Fox is going to run it on free media for about a week? What a briar patch.
17
And this is the worst they can come up with.
18
That shows a black person in college. Republicans will have to stand against it...
19
You FOOLS. This video PROVES what Obama REALLY is: a pocket-using elitist. Just what is he doing every time he puts his hand down there???!? WHAT A SICKO. Finally we see: the emperor has no clothes!!1!

20
I'm drifting along as though in a canoe (the moon above, the air still and warm waves lapping gently) on a lake of dreams of Obama being my college dorm-mate and having discussions long into the night.
21
I'm sure the repubs will be upset that he's so natural and eloquont -- without a teleprompter.
22
Should we learn the true identity of that unsuspecting, yet shameless, sandwich eater— lives will forever be changed.

24
@20, hoo boy that works for me too. As long as he doesn't smoke his cigarettes in our room.
25
The guy slowly eating a sandwich at the beginning is the dada hero here.
26
Yeah, I see a handsome eloquent black man here. That isn't a controversy. That's a wet dream.
27
OMG HE IS SOOOO CUTE! He's like a little baby President already. Awwww.
28
The Wikipedia entry for Bell implies that his story Space Traders is anti-Semitic, which isn't how i remember the story at all. I don't feel like slogging through the editing page, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was a recent addition.
29
On a loosely related note: What's with the rumor that Bright Bart's Cause of Death was Toxic Shock?

According to what I heard, he was sticking tampons up his santorum-sphincter and leaving them there way too long.

I understand there's speculation about weather he was sticking them up there to prevent the OWS peeps from raping him or if it was as a GHB delivery system.
30
The only thing controversial about this video is his pocket usage.
31
There's no there there.

Dead Breitbart is still full of shit.
32
Breitbart's M.O. was always to announce wildly exaggerated claims about the implications of his video "exposés" and then release deceptively-edited videos designed to bolster those claims. The hyperbole is part of the schtick.
33
Most

Boring

Controversy

Ever

But, hey, if Republicans want to remind America how smart Obama is, let them. Same, if they want to showcase how he has always stood up for women's rights.

Awesome.
34
And if Republicans want to bring up race, then we need to ask Romney if he ever PUBLICLY supported or opposed the official Mormon doctrines regarding black people, which existed from 1849 to 1978. In which blacks couldn't have "celestial marriages" and therefore couldn't get into the highest degree of heaven.

It's a fair question, since Romney has been a leader in the Mormon church since the 1960s, when the doctrine was still in place (his father was a governor, he went to France as a missionary and he's raised millions of dollars for them).

Fair is fair.
35
Hahaha!

Pocket-gate.
36

Shocking.

He has that same quality of saying the most vapid things, but orating as if it were the Gettysburg Address.

Skills serving him well these days.
37
Well. He is fabulous. And in law school.

But didn't he ever think about going to a cheaper college to save money?? Who did he think he was, going to that fancy pants expensive college? Where will that ever get you, huh?
38
@36

Kinda makes you wonder what the Gettysburg Address would look like if you could watch it on Vimeo, doesn't it?
39
Listen to the rhythm of the speech. Those pauses, if converted to Morse code, spell out: "I am going to become supreme ruler of the world and subvert democracy." Why can't you see that?
40
Holy shit, that's pretty far out stuff. No wonder Obama had Breitbart whacked.
41

Can we appoint him for life? I bet the ladies in the audience still remember the day!
42
I can see the republicans being outraged by this. After all, they've been outraged at every single other benign indication that our BLACK president might be friendly with OTHER BLACK PEOPLE, clearly making him a RADICAL BLACK PANTHER who is coordinating efforts for the BLACK TAKEOVER of OUR AMERICA. They're totally not racist, though!

Those of us who are harder to scare, however, will not think twice about this (except to consider all the blood-pressure-raising idiocy that we'll have to endure on the news).

Please wait...
