Dear Kirk,

I want to thank you for cherry-picking the Gospel of Christ. It's amusing to watch somebody fall so far into Fundamentalism that they make Rush Limbaugh look like a learned individual in comparison!

Your response to Piers Morgan's questions were insane and based on what you cherry-picked out of Biblical doctrine.

Please know that I am watching you, your family and your ministry as you continue to be completely disconnected from reality in our nation.

May you one day open your eyes!
2
now Danny don't be a petulant bitch.

you pine to skip to Gommorah then when you get it you whine.....
3
Are you *still* harping on about some shit a washed-up 80s star said?

This has got to be because you had a major crush on dude back when he had those shaggy locks. Get over it, man!
4
@3: Damn, you got me.
5
Kirk used to be so cute. Now he's way ugly.

Subject: In friendship

Dear Kirk,

Friendship, to me, means not using nationally televised interviews to describe my friends as "ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization." Obviously we differ on the definition of "friendship." Or possibly the meaning of "destructive?"

cheers!
7
Dear Kirk,

Come out of the closet already. Parks are dangerous.
8
Dear Kirk,

I want to thank you for thinking you are being faithful to the Gospel of Christ.

Your response to Piers Morgan's questions were thoughtful and based on sound Biblical doctrine, however I might suggest not taking the doctrine so literally.

Please know that I am not praying for you, your family, and your ministry to continue to be salt and light in our nation, but to gain some insight as to how exactly your recent words are not Christlike.

May God truly bless you in finding the ability to love all of his children, even ones not exactly like yourself.

P.S. when one of your children disowns you for your antiquated point of view, please don't say we didn't try and help you find some mental clarity.

I don’t think we should waste our time trying to convince an entertainer that his religious beliefs are backward as it will only result in him enjoying the feeling of persecution. He’ll feel closer to his god and justified in preaching his message (“Book ch:vs” - something from Timothy?).

However – and this is something I learned when I foolishly allowed my kid to watch 19,000 Kids and Counting – the religious nut jobs in this country ADORE him. He is their hero. He is the #1 Christian actor (and their film industry is larger than I had realized). He’s got a huge influence on the religious in this country, so it may be good to try to kindly educate him on his own Bible.

Also: they made a big deal about how he wouldn’t kiss another woman in the fire movie, but used his wife as a stand-in and blurred the image. This is not the message I want my young children to be exposed to. I have since banned that evil show from our home and sent poorly-written letters to their sponsors.

Dear Kirk,

God told me to tell you he thinks you're a complete douche-nozzle. Also, he said "Growing Pains" was just the most insipid sit-com ever to appear on TV, and that if it hadn't been for the fact that he'd promised Leonardo DiCaprio a start in the business, he never would have allowed it to run for seven seasons.

Hey, don't blame me; that's just HIS view...
11
Here's mine:
Dear Kirk,

First God made Adam, a man, presumably with male genitalia. When Adam expressed his loneliness, you know what God did? ... Exactly, God made the all the animals in the world, and presented them one by one to Adam, so Adam could find a companion. Only when Adam got to the end of the animal kingdom without finding a mate, did God create Eve. Maybe Adam should had stopped at goat?

I just don't have time for this piece of shit.
13
I sent mine.

(the no-talent little prick.)
14
@9 "He is the #1 Christian actor"

I think a strong argument can be made for the fact that Tyler Perry could eat Kirk's lunch without even noticing.
15
@14 not on google.

My Dad was a minister with gay friends. He wrote this:

Proposed Constitutional Amendment codifying marriage entirely on biblical principles:

A. Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women.
(Gen 29:17-28; II Sam 3:2-5.)

B. Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines in addition to his wife or wives.
(II Sam 5:13; I Kings 11:3; II Chron 11:21)

C. A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed
(Deut 22:13-21)

D. Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall be forbidden.
(Gen 24:3; Num 25:1-9; Ezra 9:12; Neh 10:30)

E. Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any State, nor any state or federal law, shall be construed to permit divorce.
(Deut 22:19; Mark 10:9)

F. If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the widow. If he refuses to marry his brother's widow or deliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe and be otherwise punished in a manner to be determined by law.
(Gen. 38:6-10; Deut 25:5-10)

G. In lieu of marriage, a female (and her sisters, if any) may get her father drunk and have sex with him.
(Gen 19:31-36)

Frankly I don't give a shit about Kirk Cameron or what he "thinks", and I'm not sure why anyone else does, either. I'd rather focus my limited time and energy on people who actually affect national and state policy than has-been teen heartthrobs.
18
Seems like a misuse of us monkeys, Dan.

I'll gladly yell at a school admin who allows bullying but calling out some has-been religious nut seems pointless.

BTW: http://www.monumentalmovie.com/

Unpatriotic bastard carrying the crumpled flag like a napkin...surprised he's not wrapped in it.

Greetings Kirk,

I would like to discuss the homosexual agenda with you.

I know some gays and lesbians. I have several that I consider friends, as you also say you do. I find this claim a little surprising, given some of the things you have said about gays. If one of my friends expressed such concerns about who I was as a person, I would find it difficult to maintain a friendship with them, such as if they said that I was, “ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

The gays do have an agenda, make no mistake about it. It is to be able to live their lives with the same rights that everyone has. It is to be able be who they really are and to love who they truly love without fear of persecution.

I would ask that you consider how your hurtful, judgmental words are in direct contrast to the teachings of Jesus. He taught not to judge others but to love one another.

Thank you for reading, if in fact you have.

Eric Knight

@16 That's awesome. I am sharing that, hope you don't mind. It's amazing how absolutely creepy the idea of basing laws directly on the Bible becomes when you spell it all out.
21
Dear Kirk,

Hope all 6 of your children turn out "straight". Maybe if you say something extra special you'll never have to have that "talk" with them. You do know statistics suggest that if you keep having kids odds are some of them might be gay. So if gays are around 10% of the population and say you have 4 more . . . . well . . . . Oh, I'm sorry Kirk that's math and science I forgot you don't do science. Oh what's that you don't use birth control . . . Nothing. Never mind. Don't pay any attention.
22
That was so fun! Rather than get my nasty old claws out as usual I twisted the phrasing of the fundies' email template best I could. Pretended to be a fellow Christian with the name "Griffith Park", after Kirk's favorite LA cock-trolling spot.
Dear Kirk,
I want to urge you to try to be more faithful to the Gospel of Christ.
Your response to Piers Morgan's questions were based on Old Testament materials that stand in opposition to the Gospels, and for that reason must be set aside in favor of the love and acceptance of Christ.
Please know that I am praying for you, your family and your ministry as you struggle to let go of your eagerness to complain publicly about the private loves and human rights of our gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender brothers and sisters in Christ, who are as the Father made them - perfect in His own image.
May God truly bless you!
23
Another "christianist" trying fool people with his "christianism." These people don't even deserve to be called Christians. Kirk, like his ilk, is a scammer.
24
Dear Kirk,

Your response to Piers Morgan's questions were thoughtless and based on shaky biblical doctrine in order to support your preexisting bigotry.

Please know that I am thinking of you, your family and your ministry as you continue to be salt in the field of progress and universal brotherhood.

May God truly bless you and let you see the error of your ways! Love and let be.
25
@16 I sincerely second what Hernandez said, that is one beautiful, beautiful list your father made.
26
My message to Kirk:

God is Watching
I have this picture in my mind: You (or any of your brethren who misguidedly use your faith to justify your hate) are coming before the throne of God on Judgment Day. She leans down, with tears in Her eyes, and says to you "...and you told them you were doing all that in MY name? WHAT were you THINKING??"

Please re-think your homophobia and your hurtful, hateful words before it's too late.
27
Here is what I wrote: (I went the extra mile to point out to this asshole what he is doing)

"Dear Kirk,

I want to thank you for helping more and more gay and lesbian teenagers take their own lives. I know that your appearance on television attacking such a sinful lifestyle helps those who bully such degenerates and ultimately pushes those young men and women to take their own lives.

Clearly you adhere to the teaching that if you are homosexual that you should be stoned to death. And since our corrupted secular nation won't kill those identified as homosexual the best we can do as Christians is to push them to take their own lives.

I applaud your efforts and can't wait to hear who you will go after next doing the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Afterall, not everyone is entitled to the Grace of God and those who are so tainted clearly are better off dead in the eternal pit of hell's damnation. And we can thank you for that! GLORY!!"

And I signed it with my real name. Hope to hear from someone!

From Mark Cuban's Mavs blog:

Am I A Homophobe?

This past week I did an interview at a sports conference. It was a 1 on 1 sit down. During the conversation the topic of the Kisscam at sporting events came up . The interviewer mentioned it and commented ”I like the Kiss Cam,” In response to the interviewer comment, I said “That’s because you and your boyfriend are always on it,”

Totally sophomoric. I quickly realized that the comment wasn’t appropriate, so I added “”Or his girlfriend, this is gender-independent commentary,”

I made a mistake in making the comment. I wasn’t trying to be hurtful. It wasn’t a comment on anyone’s sexuality. It was just me trying to be funny. It wasn’t. I quickly realized it and tried to fix it. I hoped at the time I didn’t offend anyone.

SROTU, what was your point in bringing that to our attention? To contrast Cameron and Cuban, and how they think about gay people, and how they reflect on their own prejudices? If so, good job, and thanks for the tip.
30
I can't help but notice a familiar tone in this.
"It's not us, we don't hate you! It's god! He hates you! And he's the supreme Jesus ruler! You can't argue with him!"
The second half of this being, "You're being mean to us Christians because we just relayed what god said? That's not fair..."

Also, I have to question, why do all these people who say "the gays are out to get us" always have to say they have gay friends? If you're saying publicly that you don't want gay people to be happy, you want them condemned, you want to never have to see another gay person (lest they infect you with their gay-ness), why do you insist on telling us that you have gay friends? It's this part that is really bugging me lately with all these right wingers and religious wingnuts. I wonder if it's political ("I'm not a homophobe, homophobia is wrong!) or if it's a subtle way of proving their point further ("I know gay people who believe this too!") I can't change your fundamental beliefs. But if you're going to say you hate someone, at least own up to it.
31
Dear Kirk,

I'm a straight women with REAL gay and lesbian friends, and I can assure you that NONE of the GLBT community would back up anything you've said. What a sad day for folks like me, who grew up watching Growing Pains in the 80s and swooning over you. What a sad mess you turned out to be. It's time for you to get with the times and recognize that if you believed in God like you say you do you'd be wanting to help all people secure equality and the right to be loved here on Earth.

Your opinions on homosexuality are as archaic as the nonsensical old testament, and do not condone love and acceptance. If you believe in Jesus, don't you think he would have wanted gays and lesbians to be treated with dignity and respect and love and support? Just like we (as a society) eventually came around to accepting that blacks were not stupid or less deserving than whites and women were not inferior to men?

We have redefined marriage hundreds of times since the dark ages, when marriage represented a business transaction where property was traded (a woman for some land, usually). Thank God we have, or I would be treated no differently now than this chair I'm sitting on (except the chair doesn't get beaten, raped or treated like a slave). Guess what? I think God approved when we redefined marriage based on a cultural epiphany about the sexes and basic human dignity, and I think God also approved when we decided that it was okay for a black man and a white woman to fall in love and get married.

Has it ever occurred to you that homosexuality is as natural as heterosexuality; that it just makes up a lesser percentage of the population? And that no - it's not "spreading", but that it's simply more safe now for folks to come out of the closet, so more of them are coming out? How dare you attempt to repress these poor people who have had to repress their natural selves for hundreds of years lest they be humiliated, beaten, tortured or killed.

There you are, a white straight man, having the AUDACITY to put these people down in the name of GOD?! God, who most likely put them here to control the population (since they can't reproduce, but can certainly raise neglected and unwanted babies made and abandoned by heterosexuals) and balance out the out of control male testosterone that is responsible for war and murder and destruction?

If there is a sinner here, it's definitely you. I'm quite certain that God put us here to figure out that LOVE IS THE ANSWER, and it's people like you who stand in the way of that - picking and choosing which scriptures should be followed and which ignored. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Repent now, and see the error of your ways. You WILL be punished in the afterlife if you do not - that I'm certain of.

You are a judgmental, intolerant man and you make me sick. Wishing you a grand epiphany before it's too late.
32
Yeah, @16, can we get that shit viral? If you post that on a Facebook wall, that will get shared approximately eight gajillion times. Priceless.
33
Kirk's email is in the form (visible in the link on the right):

Kirk@monumentalmovie.com
34
I'm not going to waste a second of my day with has-been Kirk Cameron.

But that list @16 is fucking awesome!!!!
35
Dear Kirk,

I want to thank you for being faithful to the Gospel of Christ.

Your response to Piers Morgan's questions were thoughtful and based on sound Biblical doctrine.

And no one can do more than you can to make sure that the bible is widely ridiculed as a pathetic leftover from an ignorant and barbaric time. Every time you open your mouth, you make sure that the lying culture warriors can't get away with supposed sociological arguments against marriage equality. Every speech you give makes it clearer that evolution is true and its detractors are lying to themselves and everyone else. Your inherent absurdity and pathetic mien has driven more and more people to make it clear that they're nothing like that guy. Young men disavow homophobia so as not to suggest any allegiance to you and yours. Progressive religious people scramble to distance themselves from the hate and ignorance you espouse. Why, I'm sure you've inspired many a young writer, actor, and filmmaker to go all the way to Hollywood, armed with your example of the worst possible way to tell stories and make your case.

You've done more than anyone to bring out a progressive, secular, just America for all.
36
the page will soon be taken down. the emails will bounce back. also, i smell a closet case.
37
How anyone could possibly consider this guy relevant after he blithely sat next to Ray Comfort as he extolled the banana as "the atheist's nightmare" is beyond me.
38
@37 WTF? So it was Mike Seaver's fear of bananas what got him to convert. Didn't know he did drugs.
39
When the only gigs a washed-up actor can get are in the Fundie market, you can hardly blame him for talking the talk. His livelihood is at stake. What's he supposed to say?

I bet he fucking HATES his evil twin, Neil Patrick Harris!
40
John Shore got at this one first:

http://johnshore.com/2012/03/07/a-10-yea…
41
How these twisted hypocrites can claim they are friends with the very people they hate is beyond me. I think he is a destructive, unnatural detrimental threat to the very foundation of our civilization. So I would not be his friend.
42
Love the list @16. Kudos to you and your dad!

But yeah, I don't give two fucks about what some has-been Tiger Beat boy has to say about anything. Even Alan Thicke thinks he's a joke.
43
@16 - This is perfect, so perfect that I'm stealing it. Thanks to your father.
44
Subject line: Love is love.

Dear Kirk,

If I had known what an ignorant man you would grow up to be, I never would have gazed lovingly at the poster of you I had on my wall as a little girl.

Love is love. Homosexuality exists. It happens with humans, it happens with other animals, and it is natural. Nothing you say will change that, but I wish you could have a change of heart and stop spreading such ignorance. It is hurtful to families and children. Please educate yourself. There have been others who held your same opinions who have come to realize they were wrong. Just like homosexuality is natural, changing one's mind is also natural.

Sincerely,
A Former Fan

Subject: My son is a child of God

Dear Kirk,

Your response to Piers Morgan's questions were hurtful and insulting to my son.

Please know that I am praying for you and your family that your hearts might be opened along with your minds.

May God truly bless you!
46
"Dear Kirk, I just wanted you to know that I agree with you about how evolution is wrong. The banana is so amazing, how it fits in our hands. So too the penis. It fits equally well in both women and mens' hands. It fits pretty well in vaginas and anuses too. God is truly great to have given us such a thing as the penis and so many places to put it."
47
Kirk Cameron and Seattleblues should get married.
48
OK, I just read with great interest the BlindGossip that Kirk Cameron has been seen picking up men in Griffith Park. If it's true, I will know that there's a God in Heaven, and all is right with the world!
49
Thank you Kirk for telling the truth.
50
"Evangelist and actor Kirk Cameron has come under hateful pressure by homosexuals for simply stating God's view that marriage is between one man and one woman."

.......if by "God's view" you mean some vague, ambiguous, non-sensical comment in the Old Testament about a man lying down with another man? How weak minded do you have to be to not understand that the Bible is an ancient book, from a very different culture, written by PEOPLE, re-translated several times from ancient languages and has absolutely no relevance to today's world? The Old Testament says so many things that should clue you in to this, things that should make you realize the religion is not only useless today but actually harmful.

If you pay attention to ONLY the words of Jesus, he never once says anything about gays, the only thing Jesus ever talked about was equality and loving others as you love yourself. If Jesus knew what they did with his teachings he would be spinning in his grave.

Compare the actual words of Jesus to the actual words of Siddartha Gautama (the Buddha) and you'll realize they taught the exact same things. Buddha was saying the exact same things 500 years before Jesus was even born.

To have a good understanding of the Truth you have to think outside 1 old book and stop clinging to ever word in a literal sense and treating it as a literal guide to life. Anyone who doesn't understand this is a very underdeveloped person and lacks the courage to think logically, fearing punishment by an imaginary psychopath in the sky...

Please wait...
