There's no stopping that smile.
2
O'Brien's office is full of great people, no doubt about that.
3
It's 'aide', not aid.
Yours truly, the spelling nazi
4
"...and found the Middle Eastern Legal Association..."

She found it or founded it? Did it exist before her involvement?

I'll vote for her! It's nice to see an ambitious peer targeting work in government, instead of on the corporate track. We need more people like her!
7
She's been my friend since elementary school. I can vouch: SAHAR IS THE FUCKING BEST.
8
@5 it was located at the back of the bottom filing drawer in a disused closet inside a sub-basement ...
9
As an aide to Mike O'Brien, you haven't answered the most important question: What does she look like bike shorts? Only kidding. I would vote for her. This district could use some new blood.
10
I once stuffed an entire sleeve of saltine crackers in my mouth at one time. I have wasted my life.
11
@3,5, thanks for the tweaks!
12
If I lived in Seattle, she would have my vote. For anything. Im so superficial, but that smile...wow.
13
She would be all kinds of awesome. Need more people like her in office.
14
So 73% of the 36th aren't criminals?

How do we get John 'latte tax' Burbank on the ballot, if only for a good laugh.
15
@10- You're lucky to be alive after a stunt like that.

No one has addressed the elephant in the room here: Is it pronounced "Fat E?"
16
I'll be thrilled to vote for her.
17
Holly shit. I've tried to do good things in my life, but compared to her I'm a total slacker. I feel utterly humbled. And 28??!! Gah. I'm going to go cry now. My life is a waste.
19
She rocks! Take it from me... I'm her dad. :)
20
she's very attractive.
21
What about the bikini competition?????
22
Dear Ms. Fathi,

Whatever else you do, stay the hell away from Cathy Allen.
23
I love that we have to be reminded that she does, in fact, have a brain. Show me the dude running for any office who gets the same treatment. PUKE.
24
This is really quite interesting, because last weekend, I heard a rumor that another of his aides was considering it too.
25
@23 I hate the way posters start comments with "I love the way...." Really, you need to come up with something.
26
#23 has a point.

Still: she's hot.
27
@23 If it would make you happy, we can sexually objectify and laugh at the vacuousness of Dave Reichert.
28
Sahar is amazing. She is champion for human rights, slices through red tape, and finds real practical solutions for people in need. She's almost two years younger than me, and is totally my hero.
29
OK, nothing against her at all, but she can't have done any of these many things for very long, right?
Guessing:
Graduates from college = 21
3 years UW law school = 24
1 year Sorbonne = 25
1(?) year UN tribunal = 26
2(?) years combined Mike O'Brien, MELAW and MELAW legal clinic, NWIRP, ACLU

right?
30
Her bio at MELAW says she worked for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda while she was in law school, which likely means she was a summer intern there, not a lawyer.
31
Sahar would be great in the Legislature, but I'm guessing you confused what she said about immigration and criminal law.

Reckless driving is a gross misdemeanor, not an infraction which is a civil matter. It doesn't result in mandatory jail time for anyone. Immigrants and refugees are not automatically deported over driving offenses. For starters, removal proceedings only begin against individuals that are not in the this country legally--many immigrants and refugees are here legally. No one is going to lose their green card over reckless driving. Also, immigration law is done at the Federal level, although State laws governing police work impacts how it is enforced. As a practical matter, it's hard to predict whether ICE will begin removal proceedings against someone over a misdemeanor, at least East of the mountains.
32
Iranians are hardly 'people of color,' hth. Minority yes, but not that other horrid phrase.
33
Don't get too set on her. The 36th District bench is very, very deep. And it is a lifetime job, not a stepping stone to anything. We consider Jim McDermott to be pretty conservative.

Please wait...
