I'm writing Inslee a check today.
2
So Goldsteinenbergen, after reading your press release, you can answer my question:

Is Inslee a circumcised goyem?
3
So if Inslee will not support and income tax, and does;t support getting rid of nanny state programs and their SEIU bosses, where's he gonna get the money from? His ass? Goldy's ass?

Speaking of the Red Sea Pedestrian, how come Goldy sends his angel to all white republican schools on Mercer Island and not his assigned school Rainier Beach?
4
Well unlike Goldy, Inslee doesn't say he wants to pick the pockets of working stiffs or support an asinine income tax so he might have a shot.
5
We can't fund kindergarten if we're paying for special elections because some dumbshit can't read a calendar. Yes, you Jay.
6
I am sending Inslee money today.

Education is critical.
7
Well, first of all, voters turned down charters three times. But I was very happy for him to come out and say no to charters. He is doing EXACTLY what should happen:
-duplicate and expand innovations throughout the state
- more early childhood education
- full-day kindergarten paid for (he calls it "kindygarten", cute)

Yes, he got asked about the costs for the special election and said there were thousands of people out of work and he wanted to work towards a better economy for them. Basically, he ignored the costs question but the answer was fine.
8
@4 The working stiff is already getting his pocket picked via regressive taxes and fees, you tool.
9
Simple question---which candidate for Governor will leave our state a better place for our children? From education to the environment, from jobs to economic development, it's Jay!
10
"pick the pockets of working stiffs OR support an asinine income tax "

Is that an honest use of the word "or," or an accidental slip? 'Cause a progressive income tax sure doesn't fall much on working stiffs, unless by that you mean people making will into the six figures.

According to this White House Tax Receipt generator of my 2011 Federal Income Taxes $700 went to the pentagon and only $100 went to Dept of Edu. :(

@2 and 3, you'd fit right in on one of the white supremacist websites. SLOG is just not good for you.

Inslee's not going to get bolder. Anyone who says "grow the economy" is a real plan is way far away from being even mildly declarative, let alone bold.

Jay Inslee:

"The difference between my opponent and I is that my 10 year nap in the House has let me have time to fantasize about money growing on trees and how I will fly around the state giving out gold bullion and gumdrops to all citizens. And also, I will create a 20 foot high granite statue that spells out the word I-N-S-L-E-E."

delbert @5:

You're implying that he should have resigned earlier? Had he done so, the special election couldn't have been an add-on to the already-scheduled primary and general election. The controlling legislation is RCW 29A.28.041(3):
(3) If the vacancy occurs less than eight months before a state general election and before the close of the filing period for that general election, the special primary, special vacancy election, and minor party and independent candidate nominating conventions must be held in concert with the state primary and state general election in that year.
Thus, had Inslee resigned earlier, it surely would have cost more -- probably much more -- than whatever will eventually be the price tag for the piggy-backed special election. So you should be thanking Jay for saving the state and the counties some serious change. And also for cutting down on all the paper and envelopes that a separate election would have required.

Inslee probably enjoyed having Macfarlane on stage with him as much as having a piranha in his pants. The "do it for the kids" Reformer has 2 facial expressions: "sucking on lemons and sucking on rotten lemons." She makes the union's charm quotient go up just by proximity. Not an easy feat.

It's a nice idea, but I doubt it's going to happen without new revenue. You can only cut current teachers salaries so much, while expecting them to do more work. ("New efficiencies" from "lean management" will undoubtedly simply dump managerial duties from existing administrators onto teachers.)

We NEED to implement a state income tax. This is never going to happen, so we're GOING to just kind of sit back and watch while government services crumble around us.

Suggesting that there is any causal relationship between state funded preschool (because they do the other 12 years SO well!) and decreased incarceration levels is as intellectually sound as suggesting there's a connection between teaching evolution and teen pregnancy.

All of this talk of funding, of universal preschool, of charter schools (pro-choice should apply to more than just abortion) is not going to change anything. Moving away from grades, tests, and arbitrary curricula, while empowering individual students to have a voice in their education is the only real way to improve education. Everything else is just theater.
