Here is the thing that disturbs me. A Google News search found articles that say happened on May 11. No article mentions whether the police got called, whether there was a child welfare visit, or if there was any other investigation. Hopefully we will find out that some agency has looked into whether the kids live in a safe home.

I would have been looking for the fire ax to break the window of the machine. Then again, I would have been acting as a bystander, because I'M NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO PUT MY CHILD INTO A FUCKING WASHING MACHINE.

It's been a while since I took note of the warning labels on a washing machine, but I'm pretty sure they do already have a warning to that effect, something like "do not play in or on" and "don't put limbs inside while in operation". Humans are even stupider than attorneys can anticipate.

I'm tempted to say that some people shouldn't have kids, but they weren't being malicious or neglectful. They were just being mega-stupid (which is almost as bad). It's an innocent mistake. I wonder if high schools should have parenting classes. "Please don't stick your child inside machinery. Know and follow the warning labels."

I don't really see how this is more acceptable than a parent "playfully" allowing their kid to put their hand into a blender or garbage disposal.
As a child, it would have never crossed my mind to get into a comparatively giant machine which could potentially drown me. I basically retained two things growing up: women can do anything men can do, and don't trust machines. Because I had a good mom. And this is not an example of good parenting. It's idiocy and carelessness at a staggering level.
I do hope it is fake, because if not, that poor kid doesn't have a chance.
This was obviously the father's attempt at being cute, and it was stupid and careless.

* The kid is fine. He was taken to a hospital immediately following the incident and checked out.
* The two adults with him are not his parents, they are his babysitter and her boyfriend.
* No criminal charges are being filed in the case. Both the police and child welfare authorities have investigated and found no evidence for anything other than an overwhelming case of stupidity.
