Dear God--it's a TRILOGY??

It was one in every five adult fiction books sold. Still a sign of the coming apocalypse, but not quite to the scale of "1 in 5 of all books everywhere."

This is distressing.

So how long until the movies?

What @5 said. What this really means is that nobody buys fiction anymore. It's fiction, big-selling mass market fiction, that's dead, not the American psyche.

Though 20 million copies isn't bad -- faster than Harry Potter. She's well behind Potter and "Twilight" in total sales, but it's not a bad windfall for this year's winner of the "I have no idea what I'm doing, but suddenly I am a billionaire" jackpot sweepstakes.

I find this very upsetting.
