I love historical slang! It makes the people of history, even ancient history, seem MUCH closer to our experience than most history does. Humanity really hasn't changed much at all in the last 4000 years or so.

I wonder if "strumpet" means "sprinting after crumpets."

Yay, obscenity etymologies! We may have been through this before (ha!), but "cunt" derives from the Latin cunctus, which means "crack." As in the separation between things, not whatever the Romans enjoyed smoking, of course. Good times.

Aww dammit, now I remember that we did have this discussion and I was proved wrong. I hate it when that happens.
