It's not like NASA could have landed on Mars by way of Mars randomly being really shitty at not getting landed on.
2
You guys are debasing the currency of the Totally Binding Slog Polls™ through over-use, nicht wahr?

Plus, you're not even providing the all-important feedback these days on the "Overheard in the Office" polls that we are holding our breath over.

I'm happy for the people made happy by this. Me, this is the first I've heard that it's baseball season at all.

Perfect? He threw 36 balls! Call me when he throws a 27-pitch game with 27 first-pitch groundouts, or an 81-pitch 27 strikeout game, with the infield sitting down for the last three batters.

Naw. The only thing rarer is an unassisted triple play.
5
You can get Triple Play from Xfinity.

It's not perfect like Felix, tho.

Felix ftw! Mars Curiosity for the Hyper Bowl!
6
Not sure who the "We" in his tweet refers to. Who are they and why did they need that? Sports kinks?

A perfect game is only amazing because it means that the M's won.

Maybe if he had thrown his glove with the ball in it, and then the glove ejected a parachute, and the ball continued on, fired a retro rocket, fell vertically down in front of the batter, then split in two and half of it shot up into the stands, and the other ended up landing on home plate, causing the world's first combination foul-strike-tag out.

Did anybody notice that the U.S. Mens soccer team just beat Mexico for the first time (on Mexican turf) in 25 games??

@4: As I'm sure you know, the unassisted triple play is rare due to its flukiness. While fun, the feat cannot be compared to a pitcher throwing a perfect game. Just as rare as the unassisted triple play is the four homer game, a feat rarer than a perfect game, and therefore more impressive.
10
@7 bravo. @8 that was sick and wrong. Mexico made us look like US teams of old for the entire game. Even the US goal was kind of sloppy. But, USA! USA!
11
@8

No, because no one gives a shit about soccer
12
If he had pitched a perfect game on a field 55 million km wide, THEN I'd maybe be almost as impressed as by the Curiosity landing.

Almost.
13
How exciting. It really puts spaceflight and the discovery of the Higgs boson into perspective. Jocks around the country must be punching nerds in celebration.
14
Paul Balcerak is a twat, apparently.
15
Not surprised Slog is more impressed with a jock as opposed to anything having to do with science. I mean look how many commentators buy into the idea that college is a bad investment and waste of time?

@ 15, check the poll again. Read the question carefully.

Please wait...
