I support the fight against bigotry, but this quote rings hollow for a couple of reasons:

"Don’t come into our community, take our money, and use it against us,”

You're actually coming into his community. Literally. An apartment community that he owns. If you don't want him to "take your money and use it against you", move. Additionally, I suspect he has owned those buildings for far longer than you have been in Cap Hill.

what a pack of fucking morons

So thanks to gentrifying breeders, Capitol Hill is now a "gay-friendly" neighborhood instead of the gayborhood.
4
@1, It's ON capitol Hill not IN Capitol Hill! You can spot the fucking California transplants a mile away when they say this. How does on enter a hill exactly?

@4: through a tunnel

I'd love to go to one of these fundraisers. @3, whatchoo on about?
7
@3 Bend over. Remove stick from ass.

Cap Hill can generally refer to either the hood itself or the physical geographical feature, no? Do people who own homes near Seward Park say they live on Mount Baker? How about Mountlake Terrace? How about Greenlake?

Either way, my actual point still stands. If these people want to truly hurt the bigot's ability to fight equality, they should lessen his financial leverage and move out of his properties in lieu of making cupcakes.

@8 Rental vacancies in capitol hill are extremely low, hovering at about 3%. And most people are locked into year long leases and risk losing their deposits or paying fines for breaking their lease. It's not that easy to just get up and move out. I imagine most people will be moving once their lease is up, but that won't make an impact now. I think this is a great way to fight fire with fire, if they want to take their rent and donate it to anti-gay marriage campaigns, then they will use the property they're renting to host fundraisers for pro-gay marriage groups. The worst (best?) thing the landlord could do is to try to shutdown the fundraisers on their premises and face a lawsuit.

@8, Traditionally, one spoke of being "on" Capitol Hill. That is until you unwelcome fucks came here and convinced yourselves your opinions actually mattered.
11
I lived in one of these buildings for 8 years. I am guessing they have no idea how much gay sex happens on a daily basis in their shitty overpriced apartments.

"The worst (best?) thing the landlord could do is to try to shutdown the fundraisers on their premises and face a lawsuit."

No grounds for a lawsuit. Private property; just as a bar owner can refuse service, a property owner can refuse to hold an event on his property.

Eye hate cupcakes!

'shitty'...heh heh heh

@10 It's customary to follow that sort of rant with a few lines about how you were born on the Hill, and graduated from Broadway High School before buying a pile of furniture at Del-Teet. Without that, you're really just posing.

Hopefully the owner doesn't retaliate by upping the rent, or manufacturing "necessary renovations" warranting an eviction or 20.

This fundraiser is honorable, and a gentle way of correcting a wrong, but also ballsy, yes?

Please wait...
