I don’t think anyone, most people don’t have a positive impression of FEMA
Yeah, because republicans fucked it up.

Republicans consistently take working programs, break them, then complain loudly that these programs don't work.
2

FEMA is not a rescue agency.

It a re-insurance company.

To be fair, most comic book villains are anti rape.

Calvin Coolidge was a Governor of Massachusetts

He said:
There is no right to strike against the public safety by anyone, anywhere, any time.

He disdained regulation and appointed commissioners to the Federal Trade Commission and the Interstate Commerce Commission who were committed to those programs' destruction.

He agreed with the third richest man at the time, Andrew Mellon, that "taxes should be lower and fewer people should pay them"

During his presidency, times were good if you were white and had some money.

@2 You were on here a few days ago, claiming Sandy "wasn't a big deal."

Now you're here warping information about FEMA.

I doubt you have any understanding of the agency's history, but we'll let that go for now. The point is, you're not here to inform anyone. You're here to spin. You're flailing at straws, trying to warp reality into what you want it to be, instead of discovering what it is.

At the risk of defending him, I kinda feel like he was saying "nobody cares about" the underlying political machinations of it all. That they're more concerned with defending themselves against the storm and their personal well-being at the moment. Or at least that's maybe what he was trying to say, but jamming his foot & lower leg in his mouth in the process.

@6 except for the part where he says

I think Mitt Romney is right on the button.
8
@7 I don't want Mittens anywhere near "the button."

While people in Sandy's path will be most concerned with staying safe right now, by next week many will be assessing the damage and incredibly grateful for FEMA's emergency loans department...I know we certainly were while assessing earthquake repairs in 2001.

Just trust "free" market fundamentalists to claim that we need at least one profit skimming middleman between all services and the citizenry. The cost of US health care compared to that of other nations shows how well it's working for us, but nooo, don't trust your lying eyes.

Please wait...
