FEMA is a lot better with rich east coasters.

1, Have you seen New Jersey? (And I mean before the storm)

Yeah but if we privatize it think of all the wealthy fucks who could profit off this disaster!

And competition! We need rival, private firms to provide competitive disaster assistance, so when we're floating on our roofs in the Atlantic Ocean, we can shop around for the best rates!

FEMA is also a lot better off headed by an emergency services person than the head of an Arabian horse show.

In GWB pre-Katrina FEMA was not well supported.. It was literally a ha ha joke like the Clinton administrations obsession with Al Queda.

Once the post- Katrina ass-covering passed its mission has been taken seriously by a lot more of the powers that be and you can improve a lot in that kind of time frame. Also, a lot of lessons learned.

The A.C.E. on the other hand, not so good @ New Orleans.

On Sunday, [Eric Cantor] compared the situation [when FEMA was lacking the funds to help with the tornado damage in Joplin, MO] to that of a family putting off buying a new car when a family member became ill.

Fantastic idea, Eric. Compare a federal program that the GOP are trying to shift to the private sector with an industry already broken because we let the private sector control it. That will really sell us on the idea.

Mitt Romney downloaded the app because he thought it was for locating tax shelters. Zing!

The real news here is that NY cell carriers are essentially saying "fuck you, pay for that text to find out where the shelter is."
