@2 My signature is a scribble with maybe three or four actual letters in it. I sign maybe two or three documents a month; certainly not enough to have a practiced, consistent signature.
I feel discriminated against as an over 30 Canadian who can't vote but pretends to anyways. My cat, my teddy bear and my self will all vote on the 6th... I know who I'm voting for but the other two are undecided. This thing could go either way! It's THAT close. Voter fraud is definitely a concern...
@11 tell your cat that the Republican celebration for world supremacy will stock extra tuna in its honour.
As for the poll I can't vote in the US because I'm not a citizen of the US (I live elsewhere... here... and the next election is in 2 years but if you want to know I will be voting for the Leftwing party aswell as the Pirate Party)
When I lived in King County, I received notice that my signature could not be verified every. damn. election. Every time I had to re-sign a new form with a photocopy of my ID. Eventually I changed my elections "signature" to my name in print because that's more consistent.
My signature isn't even that bad. It seems to work for credit card receipts. I chalked it up to voting early; they have more time to overly scrutinize signatures before the flood of ballots are returned.
Contact the county and ask if you can get a provisional ballot.
@14,
Unless you have a really thorough merchant who checks every receipt against the card, no one cares about the signature on credit card receipts. I've forgotten to sign them completely, and nothing happened.
This is the first Slog poll ever that has had an option that acucrately reflects my nuanced and individual stake in the issue ('I haven't mailed my ballot yet.')
My cat hates rules and being told what to do. She's voting Libertarian. I'm expecting her signature to be rejected, what with her lack of opposable thumbs, it's all over the place.
Thank you for including a Canadian ... option, even if I ... uh ... lied. I'm a few multiples of 15, but figured you wouldn't really deny me a vote - well, at least not in a (super-binding) SLOG poll!
Not voting is not always the sign of fecal jetsam. I do not care to enter such an arena of dishonesty and hypocrisy. Call it being with principles, not being a turd.
My three cats have all voted for Obama. They dislike screaming and realize if Mitt the Git managed to buy and lie his way into the White House there will be consistent screaming for the next four years in my house. Plus, of course, the dog-on-the-car-roof thing. While they admire The Git for such beautiful dog cruelty, they are also smart enough to know if they guy will do that to a dog, he will declare war on cats.
Does anyone know how often the ballots that are deposited in drop boxes like the ones in downtown or Ballard are picked up? I thought I'd do that since it seems a little more direct, right? (And I'm out of stamps at the moment.)
As someone who is living abroad, it is pretty nifty that I could check this. They got it! I have to give a lot of credit to the state of Washington for making things so stream-lined.
Do check on your ballot, and mail your ballot early or use a drop box. For the primary election, I dropped my ballot off at the post office on the day of the election (about 30 minutes before closing), and they didn't postmark it until the next day, thus disenfranchising me.
Explain why.
