That's redundant, since Mark Twain was already made of yellow spongecake with a creamy filling.
2
What's up with the Stranger's War on Puns? Let's show some tolerance.
3
Sigh.

You wouldn't have made it into the Vancouver SF pun contest qualifying rounds.
4
They should have gone with Mork Twain instead.
5
Oh c'mon, those was some sub-Garbage Pail Kid attempts. Maybe it's not puns that suck, maybe it's The Rumpus.
6
They forgot Walt Whipman.
7
@6 - I prefer Malt Whitman.
8
Shocked! I say, SHOCKED!! Literally vibrating with disappointment! Blue-faced horror! WHAT, indeed, is this WORLD COMING TO? I ask you... Eheuh! <clutches pearls>
9
Oh, here's one I forgot -- the greatest newspaper headline of all time, after Inverness Caledonian Thistle (known as Caley) upset Celtic in the Scottish Cup:

SUPER CALEY GO BALLISTIC, CELTIC ARE ATROCIOUS
10
Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. Keep the faith, Paul.
11
@9 It took me a couple of seconds to get it, but that's pretty impressive.
12
halloween snoopy card I saw once:

Q: why do ghouls hang around with demons?

(open it up, there's snoopy all done up like carol channing)

A: because demons are a ghoul's best frieeeenndd!!!"
13
For the most part those aren't puns, they're dumb jokes. I kinda like Thomas Pinchin, though.
14
@12 - I. Need. That. Card.
15
I may have it, @14, but it'll be a long time before it turns up :)
16
I don't think Mark Twainkie is a proper pun. But come on Paul, take another trip through Buffy the Vampire slayer and tell me you don't love a good pun!
17
The problem was that the poll's only alternative to embracing puns was to condemn them utterly and universally as never acceptable. I suspect a less extreme choice would have likely produced much different results.
18
I've heard residents of White Center refer to their neighborhood as "Creamy White Center." Perhaps Mark Twainkie hails from there?
19
Also, Google provides a link to an exhaustive list of pun-based porn titles. I didn't get very far down the list, but most aren't very good (though "Ocean's Eleven Inches" isn't horrible).
20
I confess I laughed at Eudora Sheltie.

Mcbomber @19: I thought "One Night In Paris" was a stroke of genius.

See what I did there? ;)

Please wait...
