Aww you can tell that the Obama family is friends with Beyonce and I love it. Nothing can top the serenade from 2008, screw the anthem last month!!!

A shooting at an Oklahoma school Monday was reportedly a suicide, according to KRMG. An employee in the school district's superintendent's office told KRMG that a student committed suicide in a bathroom. According to the report, Coweta Intermediate High School is currently under lockdown.

The legislature failed once again in the 2011-2013 budget to meet its constitutional obligations to fund education and shows no signs of doing any better in the 2013-2015 budget. At this point, aren't they effectively in violation of a court order? Can Washington state parents file an injunction (or whatever the correct legal term is) to mandate X billion dollars in education funding from the general fund? Or can we have the lot of them summarily impeached for violation of the oath of office? That would be cool too.

From the article:
Another solution would provide for certain mentally ill patients who are now being considered incompetent to stand trial to be declared ā€œguilty and mentally illā€ and sentenced to prison, while also receiving treatment. Itā€™s proposed by Sen. Mike Carrell, a Lakewood Republican and chairman of the Human Services committee. He says it would save money by housing offenders in prisons instead of special secure ā€” and costly ā€” wards at state hospitals.
What an asshole. Yes, treatment in a psychiatric hospital costs more per day than locking someone up to rot in a prison. The goal is to treat their illness, not to criminalize it. His goal of a quick short term savings will only cost more in the long run.

@5, I think we can see where the NRA's new-found focus on the mentally ill is headed.

Also, Seattle Times (re: education), it's "battle royal."

Look for the money trail. Guns and private jails, unregulated and big profits at stake. It's hard to believe this country sold its soul for no return on the dollar.

I am really surprised at the number of people who picked SF over the Ravens. Anyone who followed the playoffs saw how determined and talented Baltimore is.
9
If that grouse is so sage, he can save himself.
10
If Crabtree had fallen down, holding would have been called and SF might have won. Baltimore still would have had time to kick a field goal. At least, we'd be talking about the crumbling US infrastructure this morning. World Champions?

CBS just doesn't want to admit how easy #OpSuperbowl was.

Oh Slog...one short line on the biggest sporting event of the year, multiple links and lines about how Beyonce was a great show at halftime.

I disagree with the emphasis, but I love you, don't ever change.
13
@12 the play was Meh for the most part. A couple of decent runs, but nothing to write home about.
14
It was a penalty call from the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history. After watching those great Seahawks comebacks this year, I guess I'm just a bit of a fan of those.
15
I was hoping for a miracle at the end that would give SF a chance to tie with a FG, and then two periods of overtime with no further score. I believe there is no tie game allowed in postseason play, meaning that the 15-minute OT periods just continue, over and over, on into the night, until one of the teams has to forfeit because they can't put eleven men on the field.

That would have been awesome.
18
I really liked that Beyonce song that sounded just like that other Beyonce song.

@9: Stop grousing. sage in every field
