Is that a woman's face photoshopped onto a male body? Dig the forearms/hands. Not that some women don't have muscly forearms and hands, but the skin tone/lighting is also weirdly mis-matched.
I am surprised anyone could take "you are responsible for your own safety" from that billboard, especially because it is clearly a hiring tool.
It is saying: "It is your city, become a police officer and help keep it safe."
That being said, those forearms are suspect. It does look they shopped the woman's head on there. I would not be surprised if they want more female recruits though. Woman are much less likely to bounce a guy's head off the hood of a car because they felt disrespected.
Isn't this more about trying to get actual citizens of the city to become cops? Doesn't a bunch of the force actually live in places like Black Diamond and Marysville?
@4 - I never saw the "now hiring" until just now when it was pointed out to me. I first saw billboards like this in, shall we say, poorer neighborhoods. I assumed when I saw it that it was an outreach to a culture that doesn't often cooperate with the police. A little less dismissive than David suggests, but still putting a great deal of responsibility for a functioning society in the hands of the citizens.
This is a sexist attempt at appealing to males who want to get that kind of a job to get that kind of a mate. It's playing on their base instincts and it's basically telling the citizens of Seattle that they can't protect this city. Maybe they're advertising their own disbanding? I hope so.
How many SPD cops live in Seattle? :P I guess I would change it to a picture of a cop and some citizens, and it would say, "It's our city. Let's keep it safe."
She's got Man Hands

But now I see it's a job posting. Never mind.
Smoking pot is still incompatable with Military and Police activities.
wtf?
seriously, wtf?
Where else should we put the responsibility for a functioning society?
Considering that the ad features a woman's head photoshopped onto a man's body, I very much doubt that.
