A lot of those govt jobs just went bye bye.

Military contractors just had their contracts slashed.

Expect it to get worse everywhere except here.

They got what they asked for, not what they wanted ...
2
But wait Goldensteinemberg, haven't you been arguing for months that those eastern states are recipients of far greater government largesse per capita (i.e. socialism) than Seattle? Maybe the problem is that socialism has sapped eastern washingtonians willingness to care for themselves and work hard, more evidence that socialism doesn't work.

Pick a lane and stay in it Goldensteinemberg.
3
No, @2, we're more finessed about that in Seattle.

We know that it really breaks down by district or county. Just look at those tax-subsidized weasels in the red areas.
4
@2 I'd be happy to experimentally explore that premise, and spend more of our state tax dollars here in King County, if Eastern Washingtonians are willing.
5
What they really mean when they say "job-killing" is that our Marxist Socialist Big City Rules are killing the kind of real he-man jobs that made America great, like heaping up mud, bashing rocks together, driving pickup trucks real fast, and killing things. Sure, you got your college-perfesser jobs and all, but those are for pansies.

This coming from a florist. Right Fbarf?

Goldy, I thought that you were thouroughly-schooled last week on the spuriousness of your argument. It takes chutzpah to stick your head up like this again.

Gutsy!
7
Kudos to Slog Poster "lab_rat" on his statistical analysis of Goldy's pathetic attempt at tying the Dumbcrats to actual prosperity LOL.

To be thoroughly schooled by you Gene would be impossible. Anyone that uses Michael Savage as a reference has a few problems recognizing any intelligence, you probably think Glenn Beck is a constitutional scholar as well. I think Goldy presented the facts without trying to draw too much from them. The numbers were presented which does show these programs aren't job killers and didn't say they were responsible for prosperity. That's all. One of the problems the right has, besides being out of step, is that they have so little to draw on when it comes to intelligent pundits. With William F. Buckley gone you have got no one.
9
If correlation is not causation, then you have no fucking point.
10
A larger population concentration means more jobs?!

Hmmm interdasting.
11
To be fair those eastern counties have high numbers of Indians. They will never be employed as long as your socialist welfare wampum keeps rolling it. What does this map actually prove? That you have no understanding of rural unemployment? Public polices and numbers of government employment does not differ drastically throughout the state as a percentage of population BTW. NCW has huge numbers of public workers because of the dams.
12
To be fair, now that online sales are taxed nationwide (today's Senate news), expect Seattle and King Country revenues to skyrocket while the red areas fall even further behind.

America - you're either with us or you're a tax-subsidized red weasel.
13
It's amazing how many counties vote Republican in Washington (which I've always considered to be a liberal state).
14
Density creates economic opportunity. It's why people move from the country to the city. It's why cities exist. They want jobs and jobs are created when lots of differs people live and do business close to each other. Density also creates diversity, which leads to tolerance, which undermines Republican prejudices, and increases Democratic voting.

But as others have explained to you using "math", as they call it, the differences in unemployment rate are not great enough to draw conclusions, and the Republican voting pattern closely correlates with density, not unemployment.

Your weaker claim, that the data don't support Republican policies, is probably defensible. Seattle's nanny governemnt does not kill jobs. But your stronger claim, "On average, the higher the Republican vote, the higher the county unemployment rate" is clearly not a fact. You have to ignore not just one or two but a lot of outliers to believe that. You have more outliers than supporting data, county by county. If you could at least argue that Bellevue, Kemper Freeman's fiefdom, consistently had worse unemployment than Seattle, you'd have some kind of argument. But you don't even have that.

Not that you care. One irony is that most of your math-challenged political types were working for Mitt Romney's campaign. But not all of them, I guess.
15
@13 they're mostly empty.

Maps showing Red/Blue or even Red/Purple/Blue don't show population density, or how dense people in unpopulated tax-subsidized areas are.
16
"Sure, you got your college-perfesser jobs and all, but those are for pansies."

So just for the top 15% of Americans. But thanks for showing us your privilege fnarf.
17
@16

</sarcasm>

Tool.
18
Without Socialism, most of these counties would have 40% unemployment rates.
19
Not to argue too much, but you're seriously going to attribute all of the unemployment to Seattle and act as if Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland aren't economic centers? Bellevue already has more people commuting to work in the city than it has residents...
20
Also, compared to NYC, LA or a host of other big cities, Seattle is blissfully free of idiotic levels of beauracracy , red tape, etc. anyone that calls Seattle socialist or tries to brag it is, is pretty deluded.

The biggest issue is high rents. It will never make sense for every working family to live in the city at 1600/month in rent, when 1200/month in a mortgage plus 400 in gas nabs them
A single family home in Renton or auburn. It would be smarter a 1000 times over, to expand mass transit options than delude ourselves with a fantasy of everyone living in apartments in the city.

Please wait...
