Oh, how could it be worse than the people already in the senate?
2
She would be unseating Mitch McConnell. I think this is our loss.
3
What's wrong with her? As a Kentuckian, I think the Harvard KSG grad would make a fine senator.

As a 50 year KY resident, and strong supporter of most of Judd's liberal positions, I can assure you that she stood no chance of beating Mitch. Outside of Louisville, Lexington and a small crescent on the river south of Cincinnati, KY voter's consistently vote against their own economic interests and for an evangelical/Ayn Randian agenda against women, civil liberties and the federal benefit programs that support most of them.
6
I think it's too bad, her candidacy could have expanded the political dialog so lacking in Ky. I mean it is seriously lacking
7
@5 sounds a lot like Washington State!

Why are you such a tool Paul. You have someone else in mind you think is a shoe in to beat McConnell? Or you've just read too many beltway bloggers suggesting down ticket races would be affected.

As long as she was willing to self finance, I would have been happy to see her run.She clearly spooked McConnell -he started running ads against her weeks ago. She might not have won, but since nobody else in KY could pose a credible challenge, why the fuck not?

I would've loved to see Ashley Judd run but I understand why she didn't.

Politics is a really crappy job and it's fundamentally show business for ugly people. She isn't ugly and she's already in show business.

Her divorce from Dario Franchitti can't be helping her personal life or state of mind right now either and I suspect she just doesn't need the bullshit of a brutal and nasty campaign.

This is why the best people don't get involved in national politics. The field is pretty much dominated by skulking narcissistic attention whores.

I'd like to hear why this merits a Thank God from the stranger's most prolific HACK. Turtle lover? Judd hater? Dipshit?

Old Mitch and his boys probably sent her a package of information they have - like every time she's been in the vicinity of cocaine and every boy she's climbed into the backseat with. Politicians know well that people won't examine someone based on who they are now. They want to know every little skeleton.

That's why you can have someone in the Senate who has a lily-white background but is also internally evil, corrupt, and self-serving. That gets a pass.

I am also puzzled by the Judd-hate...

Still, even if she would be a total failure as a candidate, in so far as Sen. McConnell's campaign was concerned enough to be running ads against her, shouldn't she have stayed "in" longer to pull resources from him?

The only potential downside is keeping contributions from an eventual candidate like Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, but the money would still be there as Judd could not accept contributions without forming a campaign.

Please wait...
