Let's hear the Romney joke anyway.
2
Someone somewhere in America fucked up. Everyone involved apologized. Can we get some real news, please?
3
I got one:

What do you need to see Mitt wearing a dress on your computer?
4
They were collecting the tears for a powerful exilir.
5
It was a contractor, and I imagine there will be a lawsuit. Still, if a parent came back and shot someone, it would pretty much sum up the state of the nation.
6
But I thought Obama was the food stamps President.
7
Being poor is a moral failing. That's what Jesus taught us. Little snots should be grateful our tax dollars are providing them at least a roof over their undeserving heads.
8
And, Obama has something to do with this how exactly?

The part that hurts my head most, is that this example of heartless capitalism is also really bad capitalism.

Had the contractor let well enough alone, they would have a claim to compensation from the parents and/or the school for the lunch. However, by claiming power of the disposition of the food, the contractor failed to deliver the goods and services, and then topped it off by wasting the inventory.

In short, the asshole compounded this bad business, with bad for business, with bad business management.

@3: What?
11
Thanks d.p.

Answer: a CD-Romney

@2 if you don't think the enormous number of children living with food insecurity is "real news"... I guess you're right it isn't a recent phenomenon, but people not giving a shit is part of the reason it continues unabated.
13
@12, but how can there be food insecurity for children when I can buy all the Boletus & Dungeness Crab Handkerchiefs
With Chervil-Chive Butter or Paddlefish Caviar on Crisp Salmon Skin I want? Why don't these poor children just go to $200-a-cover restaurants like normal people?
14
Am I heartless for thinking the school has a pretty good policy going here? Kid forgets lunch money, kid gets cheese sandwich instead of normal hot lunch. This doesn't seem to be aimed at kids who are on subsidized lunches, but at kids who aren't keeping track of their accounts well. It's a debit card on training wheels, and probably not a bad introduction to financial reponsiblity. (I was one of those kids who constantly lost lunch tickets many decades ago. I probably dropped them on my walk to school, which was uphill both ways.)

It's not clear why cheese sandwiches weren't provided after hot lunches were thrown away. That's the real issue, and it's hardly one that should be nation-wide news.
15
@14, I hope there's a famine and starve to death
17
@12: nobody in the story is disagreeing with you. Including everyone in Attleboro. Hence the lack of a story. If the district was saying "tough shit, little urchins," THAT would be a story. This was one guy who got his instructions wrong.

Welcome to America! The "fuck you, I got mine" capital of the world
19
Hey, we don't care about people in our own community! We don't help each other out! Fuck you if you can't pay, no body will help you! Fuck you!
20
If that school is getting any kind of federal money, and any of those students were on free or subsidized lunches, then that school violated federal law. If you get federal money, you have to follow federal law.

Corporate profiteer: Someone who, if given the means and opportunity, would take control of the global atmospheric oxygen supply … and then charge humanity usage fees for breathing.
22
What on earth does this have to do with Obama?

Please wait...
