But what color is he? Is it a he? What are his political affiliations? This is the worst journalism I've ever seen! How are we supposed to resolve the Unimaginable Horrors Betting Pool with CNN falling down on the job like this?
They have a video, an ID and an arrest in this amount of time? It must be domestic, and someone with a record or under surveillance. Domestic anti-abortion bomber.
While @9 may be correct, or even @10, the reality is that we have a system of justice in this country, except when we torture people because we feel like it, and then justify it to ourselves with mental fictions.
Store video plus the news cameras was what worked, apparently.
Don't jump to conclusions. I still say it was Rush Limbaugh.
@10 - My money's on two toddlers in an overcoat up to some wacky hijinks gone awry. It's not very likely, but if that does turn out to be the case, I stand to make a lot of money.
This is the part where everyone hopes the bomber does not look like them, nor is a member of any societal, economic or political organization to which they belong...
the hacked pics show one disheveled 50yo white dude [mothers basement stereotype] and a couple of clean cut mid east lookng fellas in early 20s. The young guys look like less of a sure thing.
@22, MSNBC is saying "no arrest", CNN still sez "arrest has been made, I think". But yeah, lots of talking by people who don't know anything. I know he's kind of a folk hero to some gay people, but Anderson Cooper looks really ridiculous when he's standing out on the street pretending he's reporting breaking news.
My favorite moment so far was Cooper and some other asshole exclaiming mightily over how "incredible" it was that some of the 500,000 people who were there taking pics and videos were savvy enough to go back and look at those pics and vids afterwards.
@17, all the conspiracy site jabber I've seen is about any number of different guys who may or may not be carrying bags in some photos and maybe or maybe not in others, and who "look suspicious". Most of them are in fact thinking about their lunch.
Now the TV dipshits are talking about the ricin, which is a ridiculous non-threat.
I used to shop in that Lord & Taylor all the time.
@26, those pics aren't "hacked"; they're from a guy who was there in an office overhead with a good camera, who posted his stuff on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hahatango/s…
There is pretty much nothing but pure speculation that the guy you're talking about was the guy. He has a backpack, that's all. There were probably 100,000 backpacks there.
@30, it's cool -- everyone on earth is doing the same thing. There's never been an event like this in the history of the world with this much evidence available to the public to pore over. It's pretty fascinating.
Pretty gruesome when you come across pictures of dead people, though. RIP Krystle Campbell (and Lu Lingzi and Martin Richard).
@33, poll time: is bullshit more likely to follow the word "Actually" in a comment of yours, or "Technically"? I'm going to go with "Technically", but there are a lot more samples of the other.
John King at CNN is the ass hole who first reported all this... He sounded very certain of his sources. He also mentioned the suspect was a "brown-skinned male".
Jesus Fucking Christ, now these idiots are wondering if the bomb parts are important evidence or not. They've decided that they probably are. It's like watching a couple of cats trying to figure out how a watch is made.
Now they have a consultant saying that they should try to find people who recognize the suspects.
@37 save a meteor strike or plague you might as well just learn to appreciate the beauty of an anarchic internet future. Maybe the state will shut it down to preserve their archaic jobs.
@44, it's even worse than that. They are really coming out with it now, and it's not just "middle easterners". Louie Gohmert says "We know that people that are now being trained to come in and act like Hispanic when they are radical Islamist", therefore, in order to protect us from the Saudi student (who had nothing to do with it) we have to stop the Mexicans from coming in. Yes, really: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/…
Really putrid stuff. There's worse out there, too.
Amid the crosscurrents of conflicting information, spectators, photographers, and reporters flocked to the federal courthouse on the South Boston waterfront. People were evacuated after a bomb threat was received. Officials slated a news conference to discuss the news conference for 5 p.m.
I doubt this is actually a meta-news-conference. Probably a regular one.
Oh, and there was a bomb threat. Idiots and assholes abound.
"It's like watching a couple of cats trying to figure out how a watch is made."
Coffee out of nose. Well done.
Also really hoping Jamie Dimon is somehow connected. Wouldn't hut my feelings any if Donald Trump was also implicated although I can't imagine either of them carrying a backpack so the hobos probably did the heavy lifting.
Why is The Stranger pissed off at CNN? YOU posted that same unsubstantiated rumor didn't you?
If The Stranger wouldn't parrot every stupid thing that comes down the AP from other hyperventilating media outlets then maybe you guys wouldn't look like idiots, too. Look. you're in Seattle. your not at risk of losing a scoop. So relax and wait until there is real news.
Here's a a suggestion: Don't post an update about a legal proceeding or law enforcement action during events like a terrorist attack unless those reports are from the trained official investigators on the god damned scene.
I understand the shut-ins on SLOG and goofballs on facebook compulsively posting every stupid rumor, but do you so-called professional journalists need to do the same thing?
Game over folks, it's now been confirmed beyond any doubt that multiple Craft Internal security personnel, a Blackwater-style private military/security firm, were spotted feet away from the blast zone carrying large backpacks. Immediately after the first blast one can be seen carrying an “Inspector Radiation Alert” device that detects the kind of radiation which would be produced in a dirty bomb attack or a nuclear attack. That's in the immediate aftermath of the first blast. None of this is being covered in the mainstream media.
Store video plus the news cameras was what worked, apparently.
Don't jump to conclusions. I still say it was Rush Limbaugh.
Deep breaths...
(And totally deserved.)
@12, I'm fully expecting a Rush Limpdick/Tea Party/Roger Ailes groupie has been pulled out of a spider hole.
My favorite moment so far was Cooper and some other asshole exclaiming mightily over how "incredible" it was that some of the 500,000 people who were there taking pics and videos were savvy enough to go back and look at those pics and vids afterwards.

Boston PD could say there was no arrest by them, when in fact it was the FBI who are now in charge.
That said, we'll find Rush Limbaugh and pull him out of his hidey hole soon.
Now stop retweeting pics of guys with backpacks already.
I'll go with the coppers for now:
Despite reports to the contrary there has not been an arrest in the Marathon attack.
— @Boston_Police
It's driving me crazy that these talking heads call repeating something someone else said that someone else said "reporting."
This terrorist attack sucks, but it isn't Oklahoma or either Twin Towers attacks.
A nut job in Newton killed more people over his mommy issues.
Can we at least all agree these guys suck?

Tells you something about them, doesn't it? Racism is a sign of a weak and gullible mind.

> FBI has cancelled the 8pm briefing tonight.
What's up with that, I wonder? No briefing at all?
