I agree with your final paragraph, but most of the comments online will probably be useless.

the book is laugh out loud hilarious, a great summer read.. and oughta make for a great film as well. i think i can't wait either !

agree with Riz - this book is breezy, funny, poignant, and will make a great movie.

I tried to like this book, I really really did. The first half of it is great, when she makes the effort to get outside of her head and describe her neighborhood and the people in it. But the second half, with the incredibly boring and unfocused story of her rich friend and skiing or not skiing or whatever the hell lost me completely. If it had been better written, or maybe just more tightly edited, I might have been able to stay with it, but as it is, no. I'm sorry.
