I would prefer a combination. I love chocolate, and it's more expensive, but sometimes when I eat something really savory for lunch, I want some fruity or minty candy to get rid of the taste.
Stop hating on the hard candy! I'd vote for it any day. Hard candy lasts longer, is less bad for you, and is far more discreet than trying to power through chalky "chocolate" mini candy bars and chocolate-covered fingers during a (hopefully professional) meeting. Plus, those mini strawberry things are SO GOOD.
I'm all about starlight mints. Got a baggie full of 'em in my bike bag right now. And I never liked those American "corn syrup solids" Halloween candies. I vote top bowl.
How much I care about candy is directly proportional to the amount of nuts it contains. By my standards, both are pitiful failures. And don't talk to me about the pittance of peanuts in a Hundred Grand, either. Bah.
In fact, you know, nuts to the candy, as it were. Just put out some mixed nuts. Yes.
What's with the double bubble exclusion in the bottom picture? Do we have a problem supplying adequate containment for this city's candy? Has the bubblegum been gentrified out of its affordable living arrangements by upwardly mobile chocolate bars and the higher jar values they encourage?
I think it's time we had a serious dialogue about this.
I love me some chocolate ... but hard candy is much better for when you are in public. The 2nd bowl is a sign of an unrealistic, indulgent, fuzzy thinker. Not someone I want in public office!
I'd vote for chocolate because I think it shows more attential to detail. Hard candy is what you buy when you don't really care.
I'm guessing Mike McGinn, Mr. Healthy Biker, is hard candy, which leaves the chocolates for Sally Bagshaw. But I'm not tempted by either one. Get me some fresh fruits and now you're talking.
I give two shits about hard candy. But here's a good rule to live by: NEVER mix bubble gum and chocolate. They absorb each others flavor slightly and ruin each other. NO. Total fail.
Hard candies are the best. That chocolate is horrible, and if I'm not mistaken those things outside the bowl in the bottom photo are Dubble Bubble gum, which is worse than toxic waste. I'd rather be an old grandma than be in the same room as that stuff. and those fruit candies are really good.
I am betting the low quality Chocolate belongs to McGinn becasue he is a fatass slob. Also just lile McGinn that chocolate was shipped in from out side fo the North West.

Bring on the jelly babies!
Is it fair trade organic candy, locally sourced, or imported African chocolates from women-owned collectives?

So I'll take the old-lady peppermint swirls, thank you very much. At least they'll make my breath fresh!
