Sounds like a great performances art opportunity. What do FBI guys look like? Men in Black? Starsky and Hutch? Have Goldie and Dominic dress up appropriately, tell them to wait until you say "Action," Brendan then film them knocking on McGinn's door, during dinner time would be good. Do you think they'll need Dana 'Cienna' Scully with them to work up their courage? And there's no need for a script; they're all pretty good at shooting their mouths off in an improv.

"They said something to the effect of, 'we are afraid that someone is using the climate-change movement for nefarious purposes to hurt people.'"

That's the most honest assessment of the FBI I've ever heard come from one of their representatives.

Hey, @1, this is like, what, Day 4 of your pissy little breakup with Slog, eh?
How's that workin' for ya? :P
4
C'mon, this is just rank hearsay. Maybe time to find and report some actual *news* on the subject, you know -- names, dates, times, places, etc. The old fashioned who, what, when, where, how, and why we studied in J school, back in the day.

I'm not sure if I am pro or anti coal, I think anti. Might be a case where I simply get off on criticizing others. (Believe me, I've read Slog enough to know that criticizing is a virtue.) We know the US has imperialistic tendencies, so why are we not slapping China on the wrist for relying on so much coal production? Don't we have enough firepower to threaten them into submission, for the good of the earth? Or are we like Ron Paul and only primarily concerned with matters within our own borders?

Hey, to me this isn't about the targets, it's about the process - a shake down because they THINK something might happen (see The Minority Report). This is not right. I agree with @4 that more detail is warranted, but it has the stench of truthiness....
7
Sadly, @6 is more correct than the rest of you think.

Trust the Computer, Citizen!

@4 - well, if you're talking about the FBI, I jumped through the link to Brendan Kiley's post on July 17th (that hit when I was out of contact in Canada) and I'm convinced that the facts are there: This tactic sucks, and smacks of oppression of opinion.

Wrong headline. It should be:

Local Enviro-Poseurs Are Posing Again

zip it kiley! we're leftists here , NOT liberals. take your hippie, teabaggin nonsense and stuff it.

Once again, nobody has been thrown in jail. Once again, it sounds as if the FBI is acting on specific information, not "fishing."

Once again, Brendan is disingenuously re-printing an old press release from activists who want us to feel outraged about the FBI not arresting anyone, not detaining anyone, and apparently investigating* a specific planned action of some sort, by specific individuals.

* "Preemptively Investigating?" what kind of doublespeak is that? Law enforcement is supposed to investigate criminal activity in its planning stages, if at all possible, and when they do so it is simply called "investigation," without that invented "preemptive" qualifier. I thought you were better than that, Brendan. You know what the word "prevention" means, stop pretending you've forgotten it.

“Stop and Frisk” is a breach of civil rights for anyone stopped, regardless of their race. The actions and abuse by the NYPD are filling the very definition of a “Police State” where citizens are under never ending scrutiny in order for cops meet a quota designed to turn profits. You can read much more about our Justice System running amuck and how they’ve violated civil liberties across the country in the name of the almighty dollar at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/…
