About 500 million facebook users, right? So if facebook gave authorities information on 38000 of them, that means that facebook gave out information on 0.0076% of their user base. Which gives you about a 1 in 13000 chance of having facebook give out your information. Not bad odds, considering the size and scope of information potentially available on what is essentially a voluntary information repository for the purposes of being sold to advertisers. Going by the information in the article, it sounds like they don't yet have enough evidence to charge him with rape. Presumably he didn't show his own face on the video. Hopefully that will change as they gather more evidence and/or find the girl.
