Haha. Nope. The form won't let you proceed past the first page unless you leave the box checked that requests that you be added to their phone and email lists.

...Sorry for your loss, Cienna? Happy to drink this afternoon in her honor.

Show me how to register without having my address published for anyone who wants it, and I'll gladly register again. In my state, all anyone who wants my address has to do is claim to be a "journalist" or "consultant" or a few other things, and they get complete copies of the voter rolls. Then my stalker has my home address, and can do anything he wants. The only way to keep my address off these basically-public voter lists is to escalate with police involvement and a restraining order, which is about the most unsafe way possible to manage the situation.

I'd love to vote again, but I'm not willing to die for it.

CANDIED GRANDMA!

that, right there, is the BEST.

@3: Yes...very, very dangerous. Thank you in advance for continuing not to vote.

@3 is awesome. I'm all for universal suffrage, but I'm sure glad you have self-selected yourself out of the process. Spread the word to your people brother: voting = death by stalkers.

I've had the same concerns as @3. I still and always vote in every election, but I was quite dismayed to see my name, address, money spent on candidates, and voting record all published online recently (about a year after I had moved), when I've managed to keep my address (as associated with my name) a State Secret for many years. I've paid big bucks to Verizon, for example, to NOT publish my address, and like @3 alludes to, that just gets blown to hell by local journalists/newspapers/creepers who research and publish willy-nilly just because they can. For good statistics about voting, it would seem that anonymous statistics would be just as good as name-associated statistics. Oh, I received tons of spam/snail-mail from that reveal as well.

I have two stalkers, actually. I dealt with the reveal of my address by googling myself and clicking, early and often, on pages lacking my address, thereby pushing the offending results onto later pages. I'm hoping my stalkers are too lazy to delve too deeply into search results.

I believe in openness. I really do. But the info should be: 1) vote associated with name, or 2) vote associated with location. But my name and how I vote should perhaps be dissassociated from where you can find me at this very moment.

@1, fucking redunculous. I always uncheck those boxes, and "always" have The Unchecking get ignored (with few exceptions). I mean is it even legal to require that for a dot org? What if you truly don't have email?

Sorry for potentially souring an otherwise lovely sentiment about voting.

Please wait...
