You wrote "mentally health patients".

I hope, oh how I hope, Obama and the Dems fight the R's to the bitter end on this. The public knows it's the Republicans that lack a logical reason for any of this except to destroy Obama.
3
One bitter end coming up, want fries with that?

@1: Thank you, fixed...
5
And the "Indy" woman is actually a "Grand Rapids, Michigan" woman.

From the Jim McDermott link:

"A HuffPost/YouGov poll released Saturday shows that both parties are facing blame for the government shutdown, which stretched into its fifth day. According to the survey, 25 percent of Americans see Republicans and Democrats as being equally at fault. On party lines, 36 percent point a finger squarely at Republicans and 33 percent place more blame on President Barack Obama and the Democrats."

Really??? 33 percent blame the President and Democrats???
7
@5: Hah. Indy as in Independent.

That Seattle Times story is amazing. Thanks for spotlighting it here.

@6, Mike Malloy on his radio show has always mentioned there is a standard one third of the country who are the hardcore knuckle-draggers. And as you look you will find about a third of the country think Obama was born in Kenya and is a Muslim. About a third think the Nazi's had some good ideas and that the south were the good guys during the civil war. There's always one third of this country that is just plain stupid.

The 33% that lost two elections to Obama. Even after he passed healthcare reform, he was reelected. Now that same 33%, who even with their right wing extremists in the house, who lost the total number of votes in house elections, think they can undo the first real healthcare reform this country has had by fiat. Well, we cannot let that happen. Ever. The senate gave them a budget. They can pass that or go to hell.

"Marcy Wheeler [...] was one of just a handful of people"

Not really, many people on the left suspected there was massive surveillance in spite of the habitual tools who pretend people are naive and cry "conspiracy theory" at every opportunity. It's like the Wikileaks revelations that divulged details that were unknown but little of it surprised those who were paying attention.

"NYT Journalist: "This is [the] most closed, control-freak administration I’ve ever covered."
Translated: Lazy reporter upset about not being spoon-fed stories like in the good old GWB WMD years.
Fucking entitled and lazy, that's what that is.

I've been to the Dominican Republic in 2009. If you want to see how Haitians live and are treated, you don't need to go to the Haitian side of the island to witness that.
14
About that Dominican thing Ansel, you can take your passive-agressive ass and go fuck yourself. That kind of ignorant, ill-informed faux outrage has no fucking place in any publication.
15
Maybe start by learning something about the colonization of Hispaniola, Haitian history and the history of relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
16
@14: Could you please be more specific? What are you complaining about?
17
@11 -- Really.

True, "many people on the left suspected", but few anywhere could back up their suspicions with Wheeler's lit-crit chops and nose for secrets hidden right out in the open ... much less her track record of triangulating which stone to turn over next in a sea of stones.

Please wait...
