This is going to be fun. People I like and respect have been very busy on either side of a bunch of these races. However the ballots turn out, I'll see friends smiling. And others who are going to hyperventilate awhile but get over it soon enough.
2
Butter McGinn doesn't look quite so pasty as Butter Murray.
3
Funny how The Stranger lapdogs for Nick Hanauer and his skanch hoe wife Lenore, when they use their big bucks to campaign against our Second Amendment rights with Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility.

I wonder why the billionaire elite want us disarmed?
4
butter candidate sculptures? where's my popcorn? it's time for the show to start
5
WHY IS NOTHING HAPPENING!
6
So yeah, I'm using an old iPhone and an outdated OS (5.0.1, never wanted to encounter Apple Maps), but am I the only one for whom all images on Slog insist on scaling disproportionately? In other words, full screen width and many many screens long? It makes Slog practically unreadable from my phone. Which makes me sadder than a melting butter sculpture.
7
@5 polls close at 2000. Stuff will happen then.
8
I really hope both parties are serving hot corn-on-the-cob.
9
@6, sorry about that! We've alerted our tech savvy youth. If they let me know of a quick fix, I'll post it in comments.
10
@ 6 -- Our tech guys are on it. So sorry. My phone does the same thing.
11
@9 & 10, when they're done with that, can you ask those kids to tell me how to set the clock on my VCR?
12
Rather be a Fuckin' organic-carrot-smokin' hippies any day than a 'Fuckin warm bowl of shit eating ass kissing myopic snarky phony wannabe hipster"
13
@6 et all: I've gotten that too over the past few weeks. Should've thought to complain; it looks like you'll get results. Guess there's too much Seattle in me for that..
14
Casting Murray in butter emphasizes his inherent Gomer Pyle-ness.
15
Aw, thanks! It's been doing it for a couple of months now, but I foolishly just read mobileSlog less instead of asking the TSARY.
16
@12: I feel like irony is lost on you..
17
#16 perhaps it the other way around....
18
@3: taking your misogynist comment at face value, probably because there are literally crazy fucks with arsenals that aren't responsible enough to possess them.
19
To be fair, the "incompetent lighting technician" was me.
20
@ 3, I wonder when you're going to stop beating your wife.
21
Neumo's never opens their doors on time
22
"Polls" now closed! My traditional election night whisky is poured. Tonights tipple is Ardbeg Corryvreckan.
23
Vanitti Fair looks a bit like a butter statue, no?
24
@18

Forgive my cis male privilege, I never should have insulted the wife of one of our local corporate masters.
After all he paid a lot for her.

@20
If I bear my wife, she would shoot me. An armed woman is an empowered woman.

Matt from Denver prefers that his rape victims can't fight back.
25
Anyone know what expected turnout is for these elections?

(or, to avoid any sniping let me ask that a more Slog-ish way: Anyone know how low the turnout is going to be for these elections?)
26
Happy to see that the WA State Elections app is up and running. Not enough reported to make any sort of call but happy to see the latest Eyman disaster currently trailing.
27
State-wides are in for all of your favorite counties.

Ferry County is the only one to side with Eyman, otherwise everything is as expected.
28
Eh, scrap @27. I'm going back to the drink.
29
@6, et al - This is an iOS 5 thing. We'll see what we can do. Or, you know, you could upgrade.
30
@ 24, Somalian Bacon doesn't know the difference between "defending" and "fighting." Or is that a Freudian slip, revealing his actual aggressive intentions with firearms?
31
So when do results start getting posted?
32
Murray up, Sawant 46%, 522 down statewide

...with 80,000 KC votes counted.
33
Also is it too late to start a write in campaign for Rob Ford:P
34
The tone that The Stranger has set in this election for the Murray and Conlin contests is really unfortunate. Never forget that a majority of people in this very liberal city voted for Murray and Conlin. Time to work towards a consensus once again instead of the bomb throwing that The Stranger has been fostering these last few months.
35

Looks like no one likes revenue increases...at least in a non-binding way. They are certainly pro-$4 million estates.

36
Can we guess what's happening in Gig Harbor yet?
37
Sorry guys, I was invited to the No on 522 "party" but I'm just happy 522 is going down, not happy enough to brave traffic to the Westin after dark.
38
Ugh, glad I poured a double.
39
Re: Monsanto's party, don't worry, there are plenty of rich old white guys slapping each other's tux-clad backs on a yacht somewhere in international waters. I'm sure they're thrilled to have this election out of the way so they can get back to their selfless devotion to feeding the world. "To SCIENCE! Clinky!"
40
@Aaron, A-men hopfully these awful faggots have leaned that they are not the majority.
41
Sounds like sane, rational, mainstream candidates and issue positions have won all across the board. It's a good day to be a centrist! Sorry, radicals.
42
So, you didn't send a very hated intern out to Sam Bellomio's post-night party?
43
Voters to the Stranger: "Fuck you and the bicycle you rode in on."
44
@42 ahhh.. election-night/post-election... pick one and go with it.
45
"However, with most of the counties showing results, I-522 is losing 61 to 39 percent statewide."

I'm seeing it losing 54.81 % to 45.19 % statewide. Where are you seeing 61 %???
46
@40 - that's not what I meant when I said "work towards a consensus". Asshole.
47
There will still be two at-large city council seats. I suspect Conlin will run for one of these.
48
Counties with the most anti-vaxxers.... includes San Juan, Jefferson, Whatcom

Counties that favored Yes on 522 San Juan, Jefferson, Whatcom, King....

Strange bedfellow you hippies have.
49
@3 - How about just you and your ilk disarmed? You can't be trusted with a water pistol, let alone a semi-automatic rifle.
50
There was a guy in Ballad with a McGinn badge intercepting ballots. Put that in your pipe, and find a way to blame Murray for it.
51
http://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Document…
http://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Document…
the data to support the unity of anti-vaxxers and GMO labellers.
52
Election Control Board, I get that you don't understand the complexity of why citizens are supporting 522, but do you have to be so blatantly ignorant in everything you post? Why did you endorse it if you can only make offhandish bs remarks about it? Uh, frog genes, huh huh. Scratch scratch. Seriously. Do your research or don't endorse.
53
Will Sawant out poll McGinn? That would be an interesting result. Same voters, different races, but if an incumbent gets less votes than a Socialist...
54
Does anyone else find it sort of odd that Seattle has elected it's first gay mayor and The Stranger is bummed?
55
McGinn can move to Mexico now and hang with the other Stranger loser poster boy.
56
@48 - After the election you leave Slog and we don't have to hear from you again, right?
57
@54 - I think it just shows how far we've come.
58
@ChefJoe... majority of US citizens support vaccines, just as the majority support labeling. There were plenty of folks who support a federal labeling requirement but didn't support 522. Your parallel is inaccurate and only speaks to a tiny fringe population.
59
"when the left is going to rise up in the US—it's happening now.""

Oh yes, because getting your rikshaw crushed by a Mack truck in a Seattle city council election is a sure sign socialism is spreading in America. Uh huh. Sure. Now back to Mumbai please.
60
@58, the correlation is clear. Causation is as murky as any other correlation=causation observation.
61
@48 - He'll just turn into ChefJoe for Rainbow
62
I can hardly wait until Goldy and the Stranger endorse the statewide gun control initiative. It'll be so much fun to have another chance to rub your nose in it.
63
It's not Saturday.
64
SUCK IT COMMIES!!!
Eat Shit Monsanto shrills!!!

Wow I see why Sawant usually only post face shots, good strategy.

@49

Not surprised to see my boot licking neighbor calling to take the civil rights from people whom he does not agree with.

I am licensed gun owner with safety certificates in CA and WA and from the NRA.
With over 20 years of safe shooting experience.
Isn’t that what you want?

@30

Whateves rapist.
65
@25 total predicted 50% turnout - not even halfway there.

Be patient, young one, the Dark Side always appears to win at first.
66
So tired of right-wing Seattle voters. It's disgusting. It's going to be sickening to see who gets voted into the city council in the new North & West Seattle districts.

At least Seatac seems to have passed the $15 minimum wage. Too bad we have the equivalent of a tea party city council who is too afraid to get defunded to pass it here.
67
A party at the Warwick? How dismal. And how telling that our "progressive" incumbent candidates couldn't even choose a union hotel. The Westin is right across the street, and the Hilton just a few blocks south.
68
What's funny to me is that Goldy was against district elections (I believe the words involved F-the SECB) and that's passing. So, with all the Seattle City Council Incumbents being re-elected, again, you'd think shaking up how the City Council works might change the status quo, right ? We shall see. You don't think Sawant would be a lot stronger in a district vote centered around NSCC ?
69
"[O]ur election result is the highest for any openly socialist campaign" in the US for decades."

Yeah, I guess if you leave out Bernie Sanders, who actually wins.
70
And now, for the trifecta: The Republicans took the 26th legislative district. Hey progressives, it ain't just Rodney Tom any more. Poor, poor, pitiful you. Doesn't it just suck to lose?
71
So... nothing about school board races? (timestamp 21:15:00; 5-Nov-2013)
72
lol the progressive faggots didnt even goto a Union Hotel? really?? lol also is the Stranger paying their apprentices living wages?
73
Did David Bronner forget that they donated big to Prop 37 and lost there already ? WA state is strike 2... I hear the gov of Maine hasn't signed the GMO label bill yet either so maybe that'll be vetoed.

Fish toes will keep being slipped into the Stranger's salsa.
74
@66 move to seatac then.
75
@66

Yea it really sucks that people will be able to vote for representative who strays from The Party.

Representative democracy is only good when my team wins.

76
You suck, Cascadian Bacon.
77
Districts? Charter Amendment 19? Not the partying types?
78
@76

Thank you for your well thought out comment.

May I remind you that West Seattle = Best Seattle.
79
@61 - lol, well played.

@75 - Your opinion is irrelevant.
80
Oh, don't mind Cascadian Bacon. Let him and the troll have their night. They have so few pleasures....

All in all, it's not bad. We have an openly gay Paul Schell as Mayor-elect. O'Brien won. Bellamino lost. Districts were approved. Eyeman was trounced. The eastside was the eastside, and the $15 minimum wage at SeaTac won!
81
@78 - Ugh, please stop associating yourself with West Seattle, traitor.
82
We have a liberal poof as a mayor? I guess The Stranger will enjoy hating in his gay ass for four years.
83
I know Sue Peters has a victory party over in Queen Anne... maybe a bicycling SECB contributor got mowed down by a truck driver or got his head kicked in by a 13-year-old gamine or urchin at Westlake or Belltown trying to get over there...
84
@80
Thank you Catalina dear.

I hopy you are partying it up at Chez Vel-DuRay
85
Nope, @77. The handful of NIMBYs and Lesser Seattle types responsible for Charter Amendment 19 have already returned to their paid-off North Seattle houses, where they will celebrate the massive Trojan Horse campaign they just pulled off by going to bed early.

But don't worry, you'll be hearing plenty more from their city-hating ilk come the next election cycle.
86
@81

The Don't Tread On Me flags flying in the neighborhood and gun magazine selection at the Westwood QFC dont lie.

Best Seattle indeed.
87
@ 85 How is districts bad, its may not be perfect but step in right direction it seems.
88
Cascadian dear, every night at Chez Vel-DuRay is a party.

And while the mayor's race didn't turn out like I hoped it would, the nice thing about Seattle is that we always have basically the same Mayor. The names change, but the positions never do. I will give Murray the benefit of the doubt, but I really don't expect much from him. Just another milquetoast with the Rainier Club on his speed dial.
89
Hooray, now I get to vote for only 1/3 of the city council that's supposed to represent the entire city!
90
If you really wanna have fun head over to the Seattle transit blog. They're weeping into their spandex tonight.
91
@85, that's right, it's paid off. Jealous? Good! Enjoy your apodment! Don't you have some student loans to pay off?
92
Everybody read the troll @91.

His "I've got mine; everybody younger or newer than me can fuck off and die" attitude perfectly encapsulates the NIMBYrific forces behind the Charter Amendment 19 fraud.
93
@90
So... how to spin this...

obviously this vote against McGinn was against painting general purpose lanes into bike lanes, "traffic calming" by buses stopping at protruding bus bulbs and blocking the whole street, his pushing us towards paying for another palace for the NBA, a mayor who does a horrible job of pandering (be it gun melts/anti-gun stickers/gigabit rollout is finally happening/flying to NYC to kiss David Stern's ?ring?), and petty standoffs with the SCC over not signing documents on things he said he won't block.
94
@92, that's right, I've got mine, and if you're jealous it just makes me laugh harder. Hey, you're the one who wanted an apodment. Hope you're happy with 250 sq ft and a shared kitchen, because you're going to be there for a whole lot longer than you ever thought. Poor thing!
95
looking over these unregistered comments, you really get the sense that some people are just incredibly passionate about society standing still. what is that like? how can you get excited about what is, in effect, paralysis?
96
“ just incredibly passionate about society standing still”

Standing still? My single family home value shot up 20% in 15 months. I just don’t want you morons fucking with my retirement plans while I move forward.

Maybe some helmetless moron on a fixie will run a light tomorrow and get nailed.
97
@95, I'm excited because you assholes are so depressed. It's really and truly fun to watch this wailing and gnashing of teeth. You've been so smug, and so arrogant for so long that even someone who agrees with some of your issues take great satisfaction in watching you brought low.

Maybe, for a microsecond, some of you will realize just how much your smug bullshit offends most people who live here. If you don't realize it, fine. Run another communist, and try to jack up our car tabs some more, and pull some more bicycle bullshit, so we can take pleasure in slapping you down again.

And yes, my house is paid off, and I've got mine, and I couldn't give a shit whether you have yours. Those apodments? You wanted 'em, so now you go live there. You want this to be a contest between young and old? Guess what? More of us here than of you, and we are twice as likely to vote because we're not lazy addicts like half of you are.

Must be hard being you. Easy being me.
98
Sounds like the locals grabbed the reins and are trying to get their stuff back from all the fancy pants-ers.

99
@ moron

I'm fine actually. that's the point, it's not about me.
100
@99, oh, in your own way I think you regard it as all about you. Anyone who doesn't agree with your bullshit is "the other," and in that regard you are no different than any common wingnut wheat farmer in the Palouse. You're both addicted to Self-Righteous Cola, his being Pepsi and yours being Coke.

We non-cola drinkers have a message: Fuck off. Really, just fuck off.

    Please wait...
