Losing is the new winning. Just ask Goldensteinenberg's foreskin.

Conlin just announced he won't run again, like ever. When Sawant said he was finished, it was an order. http://t.co/ApYTEW6zeV

Assuming 55% turn out in Seatac (and that's a stretch) Prop 1 would have to receive less than 46% of the remaining vote. I'm not sweating.

So what is McGinn gonna do with all his new spare time?

My guess is he will be back to sniffing bike seats and bumming smokes on 85th street.

Oooh, a math story problem.

Two government employees, Ed and Mike, leave Seattle driving to Spokane at the same time. They are required to take a 30 minutes break and call back to the home office with their progress every hour. Ed leaves Seattle going at 56 miles per hour and Mike leaves Seattle going at 43 miles per hour. After the first hour, Ed is 9 miles ahead of Mike. In the next hour Ed travels at 53 miles per hour and Mike travels at 47 miles per hour. After two hours, Ed is now 15 miles ahead of Mike after 109 miles traveled.

If there's only two more hours to go, how many miles per hour must Mike travel at to beat Ed to Spokane ?

Yikes, major math fail...

After the first hour, Ed is 13 miles ahead of Mike. In the next hour Ed travels at 53 miles per hour and Mike travels at 47 miles per hour. After two hours, Ed is now 19 miles ahead of Mike after 109 miles traveled.

If there's only two more hours to go, how many greater miles per hour must Mike travel at to beat Ed to Spokane ?

Yes, it's true, Capitol Hill will get its very own communist. But look at Ballard. It's going to lose a communist. North Seattle will gain a neighborhood fascist, and Queen Anne/Magnolia's neighborhood fascist will be able to come out of the closet. West Seattle will gain a neighborhood fascist. Rainier will lose one developer stooge. The at-large seats will be held by developer stooges posing as communists.

Bottom line: Net gain of three neighborhood fascists. Communists unchanged. Developers (including their hip-pocket commies) will retain six of the nine seats. Not my ideal, but maybe better than nothing, especially if any of the neighborhood fascists has a spine and makes some noise.

Please wait...
