in the 90's i paid about $.50/ft for an 800 sqft studio at San Francisco's Hunters Point artist colony.

i can't see how artists, save those that are selling a lot of work or have a partner w a well paying day job, can afford studio rents anymore.

For the record, it is $12-$16 dollars a square foot for the year, not for the month. That would make a 400 square foot studio 6400 a month if I figure it right. The rents are well below commercial rates and doable for honest hard working artists in my opinion. You have to work somewhere!

Also, thanks to Mayor McGinn for his genius in figuring out how to fund this project and the city of Seattle for helping to provide much need art space for studios.
