Hopefully not RIP, favorite Kucera bathroom-facing painting...

Happens with rentals all the time -- I'd be very surprised if the thieves were targeting the art. Never ever leave anything in a rental truck overnight.
3
The theft isn't bizarre; rental trucks parked overnight are often jacked. The thief wanted a houseful of valuables and personal information, not seven paintings.

I'm not familiar with commercial art scene at all, so if i stole an $8000 painting like "Hotel," I'd probably end up paying Value Village to take it off my hands.
5
btw, the truck has been found, the art has not.
7
phenomenal spaces to cook meth in. just the best.

Info on art posted here as a two-page .pdf.

If the thieves are really dumb they will sell the paintings at the Art Walk make some bucks then jail time.Hope they find the paintings.Sorry for the artist.

Don't mean to sound insensitive, but if the art is that valuable, why is the amount of the reward so low?
11
Who is the thief? The guys that stole the truck or the guys that charge 8k for a 3rd grade art project?

I'd be disappointed by the above comment but then spoil sports like you abound. It took me awhile to "get" Whiting's work but there's a whole lot going on there that you obviously don't have the consideration to acknowledge. Let alone the sensitivity to refrain from comment when something shitty happens.
Oh yeah I forgot: dickhead.

The SPD released a list of the stolen works. Take a look; spread the word; maybe someone will turn up a lead (Craigslist?). I bet the thieves thought they were stealing music equipment. Rental trucks outside of hotels often mean touring bands w/ $$ gear.

No one is cooking meth in a rental truck. 1. You can no longer get the ingredients to cook properly (you still shake & bake, but you might kill yourself in the process for a small amount). 2. The Mexican cartels have taken over 99% of the meth business. Essentially putting your friendly local neighborhood meth cook into a different profession, such as stealing U-Hauls.

Two paintings have been recovered—I just read about it in this hilarious account from June 10, 2014 (The Seattle Times): http://seattletimes.com/html/thearts/202…
