Obviously. This is the same thing he did with the flag.
2
Wow. I was going to suggest the ap wouldn't care about the crappy painting because it is obviously satirical and unlikely to be mass produced to generate royalties, but they have apparently sent a cease and desist. This will be good for Z's persecution complex.

I don't want to see another word about Zimmerman unless he's being jailed or being sliced up by a vigilante.
4
FINE! If we can't nail Zim-Zim for murder than how about copyright infringement? They'd probably put him away for longer for that anyway.
5
The woman in the painting is a bit more more attractive than the photograph, me thunks.
6
Maybe the Stranger can have its art critic examine Zimmerman's painting and let us know if he has pushed the boundaries of genre.
7
I don't like Zimmerman or this painting. But don't most artists who paint likenesses or portraits often work from photos? The criticism seems selective.
8
Is that even a painting? It looks like it could be photoshopped. Either way it's close enough to the original that it violates the AP's copyright.

And it's ugly.
9
He didn't rip off the AP any more than Warhol ripped off whoever photographed Marilyn Monroe, or the Campbell Soup Company for that matter.

The Z-man paints a lot like Shepard Fairey.
