I wouldn't go so far as to say that it looks good, but it looks far less crappy than I would've expected.
2
Really depends on how much screen-time Neal Patrick Harris and co-stars get relative to Seth McJuvenileHumor.
3
UW's Dee Boersma talking penguins on NPR this evening!
5
@2: True. I'll probably end up watching Cannibal! The Musical again.
6
Excuse me while I whip this out.
7
@4 - that got a chuckle out of me as well. It won't get me in the theater for this, but it will make me check to see if the Naked Gun is on Netflix.
8
Did he say "Mila Kunis" while speaking fake native?
9
Regarding the new NSA director, he is, and will continue to be, in the Navy during his tenure as head of NSA/CSS and US Cyber Command.

The trailer is okay--like @1 says, far less crappy than expected. It looks like it tries to go in the direction of Tarantino and Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Forbidden City Cop). The reasons MacFarlane's film won't be as good are the self-aware irony of the characters and, actually, the obscene language. Tarantino uses swear words well; MacFarlane's use of swear words is just juvenile and doesn't add anything.

@8, yes, also used previously by Jabba the Hutt (Joe) in the Return of the Jedi Parody episode:

Ms. Theron. Oh yeah.

If Sandra Fluke runs and wins, I hope she will thank Rush Limbaugh in her acceptance speech.

That trailer won't get me in the theater, despite Charlize Theron and Sarah Silverman. However, it DID remind me of this, from a few internet-meme-eons ago:

You work for The Stranger and a pilot for a new show called Selfie is the stupidest thing you've heard all day?
16
Charlize Theron going "... ... ... yup" is probably the funniest thing in the movie. I will probably rent it next summer & watch it drunk.
17
What's with all the MacFarland hate? IS that a thing? I think he's hilarious and, quite frankly, pretty hot.
18
@8: She is a voice actor for Family Guy, so it wouldn't surprise me.

@17: Hotness aside, his stuff hasn't aged that well, really.

I could imagine watching that movie on Netflix hungover at some point, but that's about it. thankd to this clip, however, I am interested in how they use Liam Nesson in a western:

@15

Giving Paul the benefit of the doubt, he's very poor at expressing himself. He appears to have little respect for word usage, and often says stuff for effect, not meaning what he's saying. However, if you're calling him out on his shallowness, you may be very right.

@20 Liam Neeson's best comedy is already behind him:

Couldn't vote. None of the above applied. Looks pretty violent, and while I've seen films that are so off-the-rails violent, you have to laugh uncomfortably, don't know if this film will fall in that category. Has some good people associated with it though. Wouldn't want to condemn it before I have more info.

It's not that complicated that SodaStream profits from tax incentives to locate in an Israeli settlement and help entrench the occupation. This is why locally-based retailers like Sur La Table should quit carrying these products:

MacFarlane is really hit or miss. When he is on point he's frankly brilliant (I mean have you wanted the "Road to" series on Family Guy?) But at the same time some of his work is just pure shit. He's kinda feast or famine with nothing in between.

That said he's one of the five celebrities I would fuck in a heart beat.
26
@25: Yup, the musical elements are great, but the 2000-era "edgy" catchphrase humor is for idiots.
27
@17, 19: I think it largely comes from when he hosted the Oscars (Golden Globes?) a few years back, and bombed pretty hard during his monologue. Too much Nazi humor in poor taste, if I recall correctly. I didn't actually see it though.

I'm really not convinced with this. For every positive element, I saw a negative one immediately afterward to negate it. This one will be a Netflix viewing, and even then probably only if the wife is out for the evening so I won't feel guilty for putting her through it.

Please wait...
