But.... what about the hand-wringers? Those darn Seattlites depriving them of their right to denounce, cast aspersions, and create equivalencies to the WTO riots. Oh, the humanity!
@2 reminds me. I'm from the East Coast, like Goldy, and one thing that stood out to me and to my out-of-state visitors is the way pedestrians would actually *stop and wait* for the light to turn green to cross the street, even in the rain, even when there was no traffic. To us, it was the perfect example of the positive civic attitude that makes Seattle so special. To this day, I will stop and wait for the green light, in the middle of night, before walking across the street, specially if there's another pedestrian. I love this positive, trusting, idealistic belief in law and order and I don't want to start any bad habits. We're better than the East Coast. We don't have to be like them.
@5: I haven't abandoned my jaywalking habits, and I never will! I refuse to wait when cars are already so privileged and there aren't even any around at the moment!
Proud of your city for a corporate-shill-Paul-Allen-owned sports team that is bankrolled by taxpayer dollars, but that pays its members salaries above and beyond any actual Seattle resident? Seriously? What does Socialist Goldstein have to say, when he's not coming all over himself? I expected better from you, Schmader.
Go Hawks!
It's actually much safer (if you know the signal timing well), in addition to being much faster.
