These are going to be the GAYEST OLYMPICS EVER!
2
Fantastic. I'm still not watching the Olympics, but I do appreciate that Google does try to use their powers for good.
3
This is great.
4
Any idea whether this is just the Google doodle in the US, or is this displaying for other countries?
5
To answer my own question @4

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Goo…

It looks like it is displaying on the Russian Google, among others.

It would be amazing, if "without discrimination of any kind" didn't mean "unless someone asks, then we'll discriminate the fuck out of the thing and hold it in slave countries -- just give us money and our principles mean less than dog shit".
7
@5: It is all over the world, including Russia, Iran, and Uganda.
8
@4: I'm in Australia, and it's here.
9
Great! So why did they choose to have the fucking Olympics in fucking RUSSIA?

Why aren't we sending in troops for the gay Russians human rights? & Africa's?

Does anyone know if they're at least granted political asylum to the US?
11
A spirit of friendship and fair play will get the shit kicked out of you in Russia, if you're lucky.

My only quibble is that a version should have also been produced with the music that speaks to the Baby Boomers and Generation X: Bugler's Dream, by Leo Arnaud.

13
Google is not the primary search engine in Russia, so many Russians will not see this. I wonder what Yandex will do?

@4

It's here in Dubai where I am now. Doubt it's going to convince anybody around here that gay sex is a human right though.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Anna, but FYI the majority of the world doesn't see this as a human rights issue. Eastern Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, S. America, etc -- in the vast majority of these places, it's just seen as pervy behavior. Silicon Valley is not going to be able to change anybody's minds.

@14: South America has been pretty progressive on same-sex marriage - Argentina was one of the first nations to recognize SSM.

And as for the rest of the world: we were treated like dirt before Stonewall. Our opponents have never given us an inch. Nevertheless we are beating them anyway. We will never give up, and we will win no matter how long it takes.

14, just because some people refuse to grow out of their bigoted and close-minded views doesn't mean that everyone will. The "bubble" exists for those people who will not grow or open their minds. Every day, we see them, angry and self-righteous that the world has not stayed or rested, but has changed and developed. "How dare these people not act like they did when I was a kid?"

Fact is, you stop learning, you start dying.

The Guardian has a rainbow "g" in its logo today as we'll.

Anyone get Hola to work so you can watch the live stream from CBC or the BBC? I couldn't.

20
That's not the screen I got when I went to Google. Did they change it?
21
@20 It's still up. Try with an incognito window if you can't see it.

Please wait...
