A glimpse of that rhino from a couple of nights ago: http://sciencevsromance.net/post/7853221…

I make no claims to not confuse easily. However, when I googled the name change for Panevino to Corretto, I found the same group were opening an Italian restaurant on Pine by that name, but nothing of changing the name/decor of Panevino. Is this something they have not yet posted independently to the public, or a location error?
(***Pssssst, new owners: Call it what you like, but please please PLEASE fix the fucking acoustics on Broadway!!!)

My family will miss the owner of Panevino. He was unfailingly warm and welcoming.

@2: Um, where did you see that?

@3 this is kind of a shock. Francesco - the owner of Panevino - was wonderful. The staff always went above and beyond. In fact they gave us some invaluable tips about neighborhood restaurants in Rome that made our stay there so much better than any time before.

We were regulars and were never disappointed in the service, hospitality or food. So, I have no idea what Bethany is talking about being disappointed.

I am, again, the victim of lazy reporting by The Stranger. Panevino, as of tonight, is still Panevino. Indeed the bartender verified that change is imminent, but it will be phased in slowly over the course of a few weeks or months.

I return to my usual state of complete disbelief concerning any Stranger reporting outside of the two block radius of The Stranger offices.

Hey Bethany-

We just came from Panevino, meant to ask, and totally forgot. What a silly bunt. In related news, we miss the waiters who used to be there, who knew us so well my boyfriend never had to order and one of whom brought me back a bottle of Limoncello as a gift after his trip home to visit family. The newer staff is still very nice, but that old "part of our family" vibe isn't really there.

@6: I spoke with Travis Rosenthal last Thursday—he was on site at Corretto-née-Panevino. He is the new owner, and while the sign is not up yet and they will be doing some upcoming remodeling (as I said in the post), he said he has taken ownership and that the space is now Corretto.

@jaimarie: Rosenthal's previously planned Corretto in the Pine + Minor building has been scrapped—he went with the Panevino space instead... Sorry to hear your limoncello guy is gone, he sounds exemplary!

@3 and 5: I went to Panevino a couple of times and was underwhelmed by the food, and heard from a number of people that they felt the same way. But I've also heard nice things about owner Francesco Angiuli—Sarah Galvin interviewed him for The Stranger here:
