X was on stage, Tyler the Creator was up next. He had used his twitter to invite people who couldn't get in to meet him outside the Mohawk prior to the event, and he'd let as many as 85 inside with him.

My guess (it's a guess) is that many of those standing around were waiting for him. There woulda been a crowd no matter what - it's SXSW. This is nobody's fault but the driver's.

The next time you feel tired and confused while on the road, pull over and take a nap. You might save some lives that way.

@1 ugh, a real shining week in Tyler history. He was arrested over the weekend for inciting a riot at Scoot Inn.

@1 - Oh yeah, ugh Tyler. I also assumed X was at-capacity with people waiting to get in, but yeah, doesn't matter—only one person to blame for the accident.

@2 - I wasn't driving, but thanks for the hot tip. Our driver was very awake/alert and the only confusion was due to spotty cell and internet service in the desert.

@4: I'm finding it very hard to believe that you were all tired except for your driver, who just happened to be alert. As somebody who is supposedly getting paid to communicate in writing, you should probably get a little bit better at explaining yourself up-front. It would save you the surprise of being called out on things in the comments.

@4, nice to get your vantage point.

@2, drinking and driving should be the only lesson in this story. I can't imagine what Jamie West's spouse is going through. It's a thrill when my spouse agrees to ride on the back of my Vespa. The story freaked me out, and drove home the message about drinking and driving.

@5 - Oh dang, my bad, I guess I didn't give you enough backstory on that irrelevant detail back there. Check this out:

The person who was driving is accustomed to working something called the "graveyard shift" (that means really late at night until early morning!) and is used to/prefers staying awake during hours when other people are sleeping. He also drank name-brand energy drinks and coffee during the evening to prepare, while the rest of us smoked an herb that has been proven to aid in van sleep. Since we knew about the night drive weeks in advance, everything went as planned (except for the part when we heard about a terrible car wreck in the middle of the night). Hoped that cleared things up for you!

@7 file this away for the Touring Band Tips & Tricks self-help pamphlet.

How long does it take a rapper to become a felon?

Depends on the size of the engine in his ride.
