I suppose it's worth pointing out that this isn't necessarily entirely a nostalgia ploy: I believe there's still a saturday-morning cartoon of the Turtles, with attendant marketing. The producers could be going for the kids (with parents dragged along), not just for the gen-Xers.

@ 2 gen x-ers and mellenials as well. Man you people are snobs.

Can't stand Michael Bay movies, and have no interest whatsoever in TMNT. But I will confess to being part of the pre-TMNT generation. The comics didn't start until I was well in my 20s, and I was 30 by the time the TV show hit its peak. I don't think I've ever even sat through a full show.

I have several teenaged nieces and nephews, and none of them seem into TMNT either, so I'm guessing they're in the post-TMNT generation.

Maybe it will find an audience in people who were kids in the 1980s and 1990s.

The original comics were great.

I'm not saying this just to be a hipster.

This movie looks pretty terrible.

" Jesus fucking Christ. Is it any wonder movie theaters are dying? "

Because it doesn't have Vanilla Ice, or what?

Nice, real nice.

My memory on this is hazy because I don't really care, but I thought Michael Bay would never hire Megan Fox again. Is that no longer a thing?

She apparently had to do some big time apologizing to get this role.

I'm annoyed that they're whitewashing the Shredder, but even though Fichtner will never be as good as he was in Drowning Mona, I'll probably see this.

Yeah, kids like this shit. Its called the teenage mutant ninja fucking turtles. Grouchy old man is grouchy.

Did anyone actually read the original run back in the day? Before the cartoon and toy line appeared in the late 80's the comic book was pretty great. Good memories of reading that book and playing the TMNT RPG at Captree day camp when I was little guy.

I still think of TMNT as the first indie comic I collected. Black and white! Edgy.

I was young enough to enjoy the original movie and even the cartoon, but there was still novelty for me in something from the comics world being on the big screen.

I'll see this cause I'm a turtle fan but I can't say based on the preview that it's going to be any good. It's a really standard Bay plot. City is in trouble. Giant things have to save it. Whoop whoop.

@10: Watch the original movie again some time. It actually holds up pretty well. One of those "let's make sure the parents bringing their kids to see this get something out of it too" kind of things.

Please wait...
