Facebook's drones over Africa is the stupidest fucking idea ever, and yet another classic example of the kind of paternalistic yet simultaneously ignorant garbage that everyone proposes for Africa, and which Silicon Valley tech libertarians propose for everybody.

What Africa needs is investment, not handouts. If anything, these drones (assuming they ever work, which is a big if) will put African companies and workers out of business, destroy their lives, and put millions more on the charity line.

Oh thank gosh the Facebook drones are here to data mine our slum. I'm so grateful I have this wifi while I drink contaminated water! What will Zuckerberg ruin next.

More than likely they won't do jack with drones. Everybody fucking relax, it's not Skynet yet.

Reason #389,874 to have a Dunks in Seattle: Peeps on Donuts.

@7 fcuk "dunkin donuts", we have FAR better local donuts... TopPot & Mighty-0 lead the pack. Also, Peeps are only good for blowing up in the microwave. Eat At Own Risk.

Another reason to be contemptuous of Google and Facebook's stupidity and irrelevance, buying pointless apps and plotting projects from a perspective of nothing: China is building a replacement for the Panama Canal, through Nicaragua -- an ecological disaster, to be sure, but it could transform the global economy -- and leave the US behind -- there are currently zero US ports that can take "post-Panama" ships, and the next generation is going to be even bigger. Meanwhile, our Captains of Industry are focusing on bullshit that doesn't matter to anyone.

Please wait...
