If you could show the % growth year over year in business owners' investment accounts and real estate holdings before and after a minimum wage hike, it would show the only legitimate reason anyone would be fighting the minimum wage increase.
A minimum wage increase is letting people afford basic human rights vs. a little more luxury for the already wealthy, that's it.
You forgot the first rule of Min Wage fight club, California can't be used to compare to here. People don't want to accept that the Bay Area and Seattle have similar economic forces and would rather just throw out your evidence.
Why? Even if the percentage increase were exactly the same, people like you would STILL complain it was too much, unaffordable, would kill small businesses, etc., etc. ad infinitum.

Not necessarily. A small increase is fine and has not been proven to be overly harmful, I am willing to admit. But at the same time you have to admit that a 61% increase over a mere three years with no exceptions for anyone, including non-profits and no automatic increase in non-profit funding (as happened in San Fransisco) is moving into uncharted territory.
I don't see why they can't meet people half way and just say 12/hour, phased in over four years, with total compensation of deducting no more than $1. If you can't live off of 11/hour plus tips (four dollars in tips and hour brings that up to 15) something is wrong.

For real! It's almost as obvious as the difference between social democracy and communism!
