So how has that agitating for higher wages with his employer been working out for Mr. Westneat?

The purpose of our government is to make the pursuit of happiness possible for we the people. We are the government after all.

Setting the minimum wage is the capitalist solution to the problems we currently face of employers being subsidized by our social programs.

Thanks, Eli. I heard you on NPR last Friday discussing how the months-long debate over $15 MW is so much more nuanced than the decision to give Boeing enormous tax cuts with damn near no strings attached. It was a very interesting discussion and perhaps you wouldn't mind writing up an article on it?

Yeah, when business stops running to the governemnt asking for favorable rules, and tax breaks, and corporate welfare, then come tell struggling families they should just wait around another few decades for unions to start working for them.

The rent doesn't wait.

The majority of employers are small business whom dont have the benefits of Wallmart or Boeing. So are the unions admitting that a one-size-fits-all solution is the answer, no matter who it affects?

It is no secret that unions dont like competing with entry-level wages. In fact, minimum-wage laws have often been used like this. Blacks were driven from jobs by racist unions using minimum-wage laws. And it is no coincidence that the state with the highest minimum-wage in the country (WA State) also has one of the highest youth unemployment.
