I plea to #findourgirls. I am calling upon the billionaires of Africa to lend their resources to combat Boko Haram!

The African Billionaires 2014

There are 29 African billionaires this year, up from 20 just a year ago.

You should change the headline to "Chelsea Manning may be allowed to get hormone therapy", as well as use the female pronoun. She has already legally changed her name, and requested people refer to her in the feminine.
3
We don't like Manning.
4
Well, how is O'Toole at making beef stroganoff?
5
Ahem. That should be Chelsea Manning and the pronouns should be feminine.
6
@2 is correct.
7
Echoing 2, 5 and 6
8
Yeah, I sort of expected slog to know how to use people's actual names.
9
@2/5/6/7/8: Fixed! Mea culpa. Was on autopilot. Not acceptable.
10
Any film with Derek Jacobi must have some redeeming qualities.

Even the second paragraph of the article linked talks about the name change and correctly uses her legal name and choice of pronouns. It seems arrogant and ignorant to seemingly insist on calling her Bradley and to do nothing about it for the better part of an hour when the majority of comments are pointing to it.
12
@9 thank you!
13
Bethany, thank you for the correction!
14
@11: The first story I looked at in an undercaffeinated state this morning had the name wrong. The one I ended up linking to had it correct, thankfully. In between, my internet was barely working. As I said above, mea culpa, not acceptable.

@12: Thank YOU for understanding. Ugh, I'm really sorry.
15
Geez (some of you) guys, it was pretty clearly a dumb mistake and quickly rectified and responsibility taken. Some people have very busy jobs and it can causes errors that do not get fixed one second later.

On the other hand, perhaps Clement (or should I say Seattleblues!) is basically Hitler now.
16
@15 It looks like people were generally understanding about it. So chill.

Also Bethany, the pronoun has an ambiguous antecedent. It reads as if you are referring to Chelsea as "it."
18
This whole Chelsea Manning commentary reminds me of "Loretta":

Nice that 'traitor' is neither masculine or feminine.
20
Bethany, thanks again! Sorry for being pedantic, but as a trans woman, accurate language for transgender people is important to me. You are awesome!
21
Right, because real trans people are just like comedy for laughs dudes making jokes about trans people
22
@14
No big deal. Even some of the out trans folks I've talked with acknowledge that the way sometimes use gendered terms when they don't mean to. Innocent miscues are fine with most people unless one is a jerk about it, I guess.

The quote I like from the Alec Baldwin piece:

"The disregard for traffic rules and wiseguy attitude, as described by the police, suggested the worst stereotypes of city bicyclists."

Note to Seattle bicyclists: stop signs and speed limits apply to you. If you are riding with traffic, do not roll past stopped cars to the front of line waiting for the light to change.

Please wait...
