Good Morning Charles,
Absolutely awesome footage Charles. Man, Russia gets tagged a lot by meteors. In 1908:

The event I just cited was massive and I think the largest known celestial entity to impact earth. Yikes! Russia has a "bullseye" on it.

Nuclear bomb vs atomic bomb...

(Oh, why bother.)

"this collision happened in some deep part of space 290 million years ago"
versus
"the fragments entered our atmosphere 10 million years after the fateful collision"
versus
"asteroid that exploded last year over"

Please, SLOG, get a science writer that isn't a less than amateur. Last year minus 10million is not 290million.

and @1, to impact Earth in the (very short) span of human existence. There are very large impact craters across the globe much larger and much older. Of course the moon is sitting up there too, the remains of a collision that split the planet into two bodies.

@3 beat me to.
Chuck: go home you ignorant boob.
(Or stick to boobs).
5
@3 Understand. Thanks.

That is the crater believed to have come from the asteroid which contributed in large part to the extinction event surrounding the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous.

@3, there was actually a discussion on twitter i had about those date of the collision because they were different in the guardian and the independent. one said 290 the other 10. i read the original paper in nature and found out the correct date was 290. i caught and corrected the first but simply missed the second mention of the date in the post. sorry, mudede is also a human.

@3, another big problem is that the guardian wrote 290m. im not used to that. im used to 290 Ma. the independent at least said 10 million--that i understand as well. these are the things we work with early in the morning for a post.

God knows where to send the meteors. The russians are a breed of convicts and dunderheads, England sent most of their convicts to Australia but the worst one's were sent to Russia because of the bad climate. That's the heritage of their leader, the piece of shit that runs their country. If putin (the piece of shit) lived the U.S.A. he would probably be a republican.

Please wait...
