I kind of like the UN owns the Internet idea. I really like the idea of taxing billionaires.

What if you like some of the conspiracy theories and think they might be good policy? Does that make me a fringey?

I'm so confused now.

Anyone who wouldn't vote for someone because they believe that someone is a lizard from outer space should not be allowed to vote at all. (Not that David Icke votes here, being British and all. But I'm sure there are other like him who can vote here.)

@1: I suggest you review the members of the UN Human Rights Council and then see if you kinda like the idea.

@4,
I reviewed them... http://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/HRC/Pag…

I still like @1's idea.

Just as good as the list itself are the comments going on after the article... great reading, I'm about to pop some popcorn and settle in.

@4 There are 47 different countries on the UN Human Rights Council, dipshit. Membership rotates and expires all the time.

And since there exists no pure super-enlightened perfect human government on the planet, some of the UN members are going to behave unsavory at times. Like, you know, the US (as I recall your buddy Duhbya invaded, and occupied Iraq recently - killing a hundred thousand people in the process).

Yeah. @1 is right. An international non-profit body like the UN running the internet funded by a billionaire tax is a pretty good idea.

The UN running the Internet would be a pretty decent idea.

I'm surprised Paul didn't find some way to tie this in with Amazon.

the UN is one of the most crooked organizations on the planet....giving them control of the internet is fucking stupid - the person who thought it up should be skinned alive in the middle of the street.

Please wait...
